Computer Hardware

Drives are are little holes in the computer which are used to put memory sticks in.

A monitor is the screen which displays whatever your doing on the computer. The big black box which sits next to the monitor is actually the part called the 'computer'. The monitor is only a screen which enables you to see what your doing.

Everytime you press a key on the keyboard, or click on a button on the monitor, you are issuing a series of commands to the computer.

RAM is basically a short-term back-up system. It remembers every document you create for a certain amount of time so that if you forget to save anything you can find it on the RAM.

ROM stands for Read Only Memory. It is basically a memory which never forgets and can only be edited with great difficulty. This is useful because if you forget to save your work, or accidentally delete it, you can find it on the ROM.
