Ms. Harris' Weekly Update
February 24th-28th
What's Going On This Week:
- Ms. Harris' Social Studies: This week we will review our unit on The USA as a World Power and students will take their unit tests on Tuesday and Wednesday. Their proof boxes (glued into their notebooks) are due on the day of their test. We will then start our next unit on Prosperity and Depression that will cover the 1920s and 30s.
- Ms. Harris' GT Math and ELA: In math this week we will finish up adding and subtracting fractions and transition into adding and subtracting mixed numbers. On Friday, students will use this knowledge to create slime in class, converting the measurements using what they've learned this week. In ELA we will continue working on literary essays, text structure, and our Nanowrimo stories. Nanowrimo novels will be completed edited and sent to the publisher by mid March. Please be asking your child how their novel is going and let them read you what they've put together so far. We are deep in the editing process and I'm proud of how hard these students are working on improving their writing.
