SHS Graduate Parade!

One of the best traditions at SSD is the annual graduate parade! Today the 2023 SHS graduates walked the halls at all of our schools where many of their educational journeys began. Seniors were greeted with high fives, hugs from former teachers, cheers, happy tears, pure joy, and an entire district bursting with pride!

Onlookers could feel a sense of true accomplishment from the Seniors and a dream to aspire to from the younger students. Today’s walk was a reminder to our Seniors of just how far they have come! We are so proud of their hard work and accomplishments and wish them all the best as they spread their wings!

Their steps aren’t over yet, though! Join us TOMORROW (June 3rd) on McNabb Field at 1:00 pm and witness them walk across the stage and on to their next adventures in life!

Congratulations SHS Class of 2023!

Kindergartners make the best taste testers!

Ms. Lines's Kindergarten Class at Warren Elementary had a fun and flavorful time taste-testing the lettuce they have been growing! They reaped the scrumptious rewards of a vegetable garden where the students tried Kale, Romaine, and Butter Crisp lettuce. The students first tasted everything plain and then taste-tested three different kinds of dressings, Ranch, Sesame, and Balsamic vinegar. The students voted by giving thumbs-ups or downs on their favorites: 12 liked Ranch, 11 liked Sesame, and 10 liked Balsamic vinegar- a broad mix! They loved it so much they wanted more- looks like they’ll need a bigger garden!

Amazing 4th grade MAZES!

Mrs. Richard’s class at Otto Petersen Elementary has been studying animal and plant adaptations for the last few months. To wrap up their studies, students constructed mazes out of cardboard boxes to see how sugar-snap pea plants would react to their environment. The only light source available is a hole cut out at the top of the box! Will the plants make it to the top of the box by the end of the school year? Will all the plants survive? Try building your own to find out!

Latino Movie Night!

Come join us on Friday, June 9th from 8:30-10:00 pm under the big trees on the Grant Watts/ OPE playground! We will be showing Disney's Encanto. Come on by, the showing is free and refreshments will be provided!
