#eTwiam chat
A guide on how to participate successfully in
#eTwiam, the eTwinning Ambassador twitter chat
Why a Twitter chat?
#eTwiam Twitter chat is a way to engage in our eTwinning community, form connections and learn from one another’s knowledge and experience.
Make sure your Twitter feed is not private.
Your posts won’t come up on the chat even if you have a hashtag. You need to make all posts public so others not following you can see what you are saying.
Always use the hashtag
Never forget to include the #etwiam hashtag if you want your comments, ideas and replies to be part of the conversation. Use it in every post also outside the chat if you want to address to the eTwinning community.
Follow the chat format.
Chat questions are marked with Q followed by the question number and answer are marked with A and the number of the question you are answering. This will allow a chat summary to be drafted properly and your comments/ideas can be included in it if they can be tracked properly. For example: “Q1: What is your favourite tool for presentations? #etwiam” your answer could be: “A1: Voki! #etwiam”
Stay on topic
Moderators are there to make sure things don’t go too far off topic. If you wish to start a conversation with one of the participants on a particular comment, do so through private messages.
Know what constitutes spam.
Posting links relevant to the chat topic is welcome. However, avoid posting the same link or comment over and over or adding links off topic.
Be pleasant and courteous
This is the golden rule of communication in any circumstance. During a chat you might disagree with one of the participants, in this case do not start an argument, just express your dissent as in a debate. Be polite!
Respond to people by name.
Twitter chats move quickly, so it always better to use the Twitter handle of the person you are responding to. This will make it easier for the person to respond to what you are saying.
If you arrive late...
Look for the posts with the hashtag #etwiam and keep up with the conversation. You can also revise the questions published on eTwinning Live, Events to know how far the chat is. This will help the chat moving and keep it interesting.
