Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
FAFSA is used to apply for federal, state, and college-based financial aid. All students who are considering attending college or technical school need to apply. The new FAFSA filing date is October 1st and students should get their application submitted as soon as possible after this date. For a checklist of what you will need to apply and more information about the process, click the links below. Also, a representative from KHEAA (Kentucky Higher Education Assistance Authority) will be visiting the school soon to help students and parents with the FAFSA process. The dates for these visits are at the bottom of this newsletter.

The Individual Learning Plan (ILP)
The ILP, created by Career Cruising, is one of the most valuable college and career planning tools available to students. The state pays for every Kentucky student to have access to this site and it is available to them for years after they graduate high school. On this site, students can research countless college and career options, access a huge database of scholarships, create a resume and cover letter, conduct a nationwide or local job search, complete career match surveys and learning style inventories, and so much more.
It is a state requirement that every student in grades 6-12 complete specific portions of the ILP each year. However, it would be beneficial for students and parents to take the time to explore all parts of the website on a regular basis. Parents can even get their own usernames and passwords. For more information, contact the counseling office or click the links below.
