The Western Expansion was a time period where the colonies bought land out west like the Louisiana Purchase. From there many people packed up and moved out west for a better life.(dictionary.com)
Literature
During this time there were many stories written on there're journey because it was no easy thing going to one side of the country to the other side of the country. Most writings were based on there daily struggles getting to there destination. Mainly women wrote about there journeys because the men were riding and protecting.
