This Week
It's Conference Week! I hope you're as excited as I am to connect with parents! Remember these are GOAL SETTING conferences, not necessarily the time to show all the great things students have been learning. Our goal is to share student data, set goals and partner with parents on their child's education. We can't do it all alone, we need their involvement as well!
Thursday night I plan to be out and about in both schools. Should you have a conference you wish i would attend or make sure to be in the hallway, please let me know. I'd be happy to help out!
Thursday morning there is a Rachel's Challenge Assembly at MAIS. I believe it starts a 9:00. Remind students to wear their BE KIND Shirts!
Building relationships is not rocket science, but maybe the most important part of your work everyday!
Do Student Goals Really Matter?
John Hattie has taken the decades of educational research and summed up what really matters for students in a number of books. Goal Setting falls under FEEDBACK in this study and certainly makes a difference. Partner this with parent involvement and there's even more progress to make. Hattie's work is really interesting and provides great insight on what matters! Here's a little snapshot.
