The Miller Minute

#daretobe our personal best to inspire excellence!

Week 21 - January 28

News to Know

Student Devices

All learners should bring their charged devices to school each day, but occasionally, students may forget their devices at home. Please avoid delivering the device to campus. Our teachers are prepared to offer an alternative assignment, if needed, for the day the device is forgotten at home.

Reminder - Our tardy bell rings at 7:45, and our learners are expected to be in their classrooms ready for the day. Last week, we had 40+ learners tardy in one day! Yikes! Thank you for helping get our day started on time!

Lost and Found

Before break, we donated at least 7 huge bags of lost items (coats, jackets, sweatshirts, hoodies, etc.). Please put your child's name on any outer layer of clothing (especially sweatshirts / hoodies), so we can return items to you when they get lost.

Arrival / Dismissal Procedures

Back doors open for car riders at 7:20 am. The back drive is the preferred drop-off for most learners as buses, daycare vans, and special circumstances utilize the side drive.

All morning drop-off vehicles are expected to form a double line (starting at the loop) and merge back into a single line (near the Gaga Pit) for morning drop-off. Morning traffic ebbs and flows, but all vehicles should follow this procedure. Please do not block vehicles from forming double line. Thank you for being courteous. See picture below.

Dismissal occurs at 3:15. Dismissal changes need to be submitted to the office no later than 2:45. Car cards must be presented for student pick up.

The Great Kindness Challenge

The Kindness and Compassion Club challenged us last week to spread kindness as part of the Great Kindness Challenge. We participated in dress up days, completed kindness checklists, and created a ginormous heart with our amazing learners and leaders. Thank you, Ms. Daniell, for planning an amazing week!

Super Outrageous Science Day

Special thanks to Mr. Teufel for presenting on Friday for our learners as part of Super Outrageous Science Day!

Next Week

Inch and Miles

We will recognize our Miller All-Stars for displaying self-control tomorrow in our Miller Rally. We will also introduce our next work "alertness".

Additional Information

Genius Hour

Our Kindergarten and Destination Imagination Friends will join us in the next Genius Hour Session starting Friday, February 9. Each learner will have an opportunity to choose their top 3 Genius Hour Club choices through a survey.

Our favorite cake decorator is coming back, and Coach Wendel is hosting a football clinic! We are also adding a new club called "Peer Pals" where a limited number of students will partner with CBI students, and Ms. Horton will lead them in some sort of activity. This club is completely student created, and I could not be more proud of our Miller Leaders! #daretobe AWESOME #soexcited

In addition, we are going to try out a "free-style" Genius Hour Club where learners in grades 3 - 5 will have an opportunity to bring items from home and create their own "genius". Learners who sign up for this club will have to have parent permission to participate. More information will be forthcoming.

As always, if you are interested in sharing your "genius" with us, please let us know! We would love to include a wood-working club and are always open to new ideas! Please contact Mrs. West if you are interested (
