PRE Newsletter
July 29, 2022
Summer is once again flying by, but I hope that you have been able to enjoy some time with family and friends. We are getting ready to start the year at PRE with our theme Passport Around the World! I hope that you and your family have enjoyed some fun summer travel this year.
The custodians have been working tirelessly to deep clean every square inch of the building. Teachers have been coming in every so often to start to prepare for the new year. The office staff have been busy making sure that everything is ready to go for the year.
I sure do miss the kids in the building and am looking forward to our Back to School Night on Monday, August 15. Please see details about this below.
Have a fantastic weekend!
Respectfully,
Kristel Fulcher
Prairie Ridge Principal

Recent Changes
With this move, the PE position became available. Third grade teacher, Mrs. Morrison, will be taking on the role as the next PE teacher at PRE. We are excited to watch her in a different light teaching students PE in grades K-5!
With Mrs. Morrison moving to PE, that meant that the third grade position became open. Mrs. Zymball, former second grade teacher, is staying at Prairie Ridge to be a third grade teacher. Since she just taught second grade, teaching third grade will be a natural step moving the students forward. We are excited that Mrs. Zymball will continue to teach at Prairie Ridge!
Back to School Night
As a reminder, our Back to School night will be held on August 15. This casual come and go time is a great way for you to come with your child to meet their teacher and bring in school supplies. Teacher video presentations will be sent out to families at a later date. Last year we broke-up the time according to family last name, and we received positive comments from both families as well as staff. Both reported that they could actually have a conversation in a less crowded environment. With this feedback, we will split the time into two different times based on family last name (see below).
Back to School Night Times:
5:00-5:45—Family Last Name A-L
5:45-6:30—Family Last Name M-Z
In the past, we have had tables set-up for groups that want to be available to answer questions or have information available (for example, Girl Scouts). If you would like to have a table available, please contact Angela Handy (ahandy@usd232.org or 913-667-1800) by August 10. All tables will be outside near the front of the building.
PRE PTO Back to School Night
PRE PTO is excited for a new school year! This year we are happy to host Weenies and Paninis and Coco Loco food trucks, starting at 4:30 PM at Back to School Night. Stop by, grab some dinner, and enjoy some conversation with friends you may not have seen all summer!
Don't forget to stop by our table to see what we have planned for the year, and take a peek at the all school shirt design. Orientation for Watch DOGS will also take place that evening at 5:15 PM or 6:00 PM in the cafeteria. If you are interested in participating in our Watch DOGS program, please plan on attending one of the sessions. For those who are new to this program, this is a way that male figures (father, grandfathers, uncles, etc.) can volunteer at the school. Come to one of the orientation times to learn more!
