UPDATED SYMPTOM SCREENING TOOL AND REMINDER
As we prepare for our return to in-person learning, please remember to screen your child each morning before school. The Wayne County Health Department has revised the COVID-19 Daily Student Symptom Screening Tool* based on guidance from MDHHS as we enter into the cold and flu season. The revised tool separates symptoms into two categories and asks if you have any new, unusual or worsening symptoms in those categories. Additionally, the form asks if you have been in close contact with anyone that is positive. If any response is yes, you must keep your child home and contact your school to report any symptoms and the absence. It is critical that children are screened at home EACH MORNING before coming to school. This process is what helps keep our students and staff safe in school and a primary contributor to allowing us to continue in-person learning for students.
*Important Note: The Wayne County Screening Tool is a COVID Symptom Screener, which is required in addition to, rather than in place of, the District's standard health requirements. Please DO NOT send children who are sick with a fever, are vomiting, have a rash, or any other evidence of illness to school. Students may not return to school following any illness until they have been fever-free for at least 24 hours without use of fever reducing medications, or longer if subject to continued quarantine based on COVID guidelines.
PLEASE CONTINUE COVID REPORTING TO YOUR CHILD’S SCHOOL
While we are still in a full virtual learning environment and as we head back into in-person learning, it is important that families continue to report to your child's school attendance office and/or principal's office if anyone in your household is a presumed or positive COVID case, if your child has been in close contact with a presumed or positive COVID case, or if your child is being tested for or is COVID positive. Our COVID Response Team, in coordination with our school nurse and the Wayne County Health Department, are ready to support you through the reporting and necessary quarantine requirements.

Supporting the 7 Habits at home!
December At Home Activity
This month’s Habit: Habit 1 Be Proactive
Activity: Circle of Control
Due Date: December 18th
Please see attached activities below. We would love to have you return the Circle of Control paper to school by December 18th, so we can proudly display our families learning practicing the 7-Habits at home!
Habit 1 – Be Proactive – “I’m in Charge of Me”
What this means: Take charge of your own life. Make it happen. Don't wait for someone else to do it.
“I am responsible for me.”
“I do the right thing before I am asked.”
“I do the right thing even when no one is looking.”
“I do not blame others for my actions.”
How can I do this in my life?
1. If you do something wrong, say you are sorry before someone asks you to apologize.
2. When you get mad and want to say something, stop, think, and ask yourself-
Why am I getting so angry? Make a good choice in a good way.
Great Books for Habit #1- Be Proactive
- The Dot by Peter H. Reynolds
- Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day by Judith Viorst
- Because of Winn Dixie by Kate DiCamillo
- The Little Engine that Could by Watty Piper
- Amazing Grace by Mary Hoffman
- Spaghetti in a Hot Dog Bun by Maria Dismondy
