Overview/History of a Ballad

The ballad began as a type of folk song that told an exciting story. It is usually made up of simple words and rhymes. They were first made in Great Britain six or seven centuries ago. Characteristics of a Ballad

Some characteristics of a ballad is a song that tell a story, includes dialogue, and has an abrupt ending. Also 4 line stanzas, First and third lines have four stresses, Second and fourth lines have three stresses, and ABCB rhyming pattern.
