From the Desk of Mrs. Del Prete
I hope that you enjoyed your Spring Break and feel rested and re-energized as we tackle the last part of our school year. Please click here to read the Cook County Travel Guidelines that were updated on March 9, 2021. These guidelines list updated instructions for out of state travel. The travel guidance for international travel has not changed, and you are still required to complete a 10 days quarantine upon your return to the Country. Please keep in mind that these guidelines could change at any time.
Also, our 3rd - 6th graders had the opportunity to submit a piece of artwork to Ms. Douglas for our Creative Expressions Art Contest. Congratulations to this year's winners, and all of the Bridgeview School students who submitted an entry into the contest. Click here to view a video of our winners and their special artwork.
As you probably have read in the message sent to you on March 17th by our Superintendent, Dr. Nuccio, we will be bringing all of our current in-person hybrid students back to school full time. Our current fully remote students will remain fully remote for the rest of the school year. If you would like to read the entire message, you can do so by clicking here. The highlights are as follows:
* As of 4/12/2021, all grades K-2 hybrid students in Tracks A & B will combine and report to on-site learning with three feet of distancing as much as possible (while eating - six feet) all school days of each week for the remainder of the school year. Grades 3-8 students will continue following our current hybrid plan.
* As of 4/26/2021, all grades 3-6 hybrid students in Tracks A & B will combine and report to on-site learning with three feet of distancing as much as possible (while eating - six feet) all school days of each week for the remainder of the school year. Grades 7-8 students will continue following our current hybrid plan.
* As of 5/3/2021, all grades 7-8 hybrid students in Tracks A & B will combine and report to on-site learning with three feet of distancing as much as possible (while eating - six feet) all school days of each week for the remainder of the school year.
And lastly, the D109 Calendar for the 2021-2022 school year has been approved by the Board of Education. I am looking forward to a great end to a very unusual school year. Thank you for your support and flexibility!
Hope to see you soon,
Candice
We Need Your Student's Help!
The past year has taught us many things about ourselves and the world we live in. We've determined a new normal, slowed down as a society, and have re-ignited the importance of family. Some of the best lessons, though, come from our children.
In a special section of our yearbook, we'd love to hear from our students! We will be highlighting the "lessons we learned" from Covid-19 from our students' perspective. Talk to your child about what he/she has learned during this past year about school and/or life in general and share it with us!

Thanks!
Health Requirements for 2021-2022 Student Registration
The State of Illinois has the following health requirements for students at the following grade levels prior to registration:
Physical Examination and Immunizations
All Kindergarten, Sixth Graders, and all children entering an Illinois school for the first time.
Dental Examination
All Kindergarten, Second, and Sixth Grade students
Eye Exam by a Licensed Optometrist or Ophthalmologist
All Kindergarten students
Please plan to make your doctor appointments in the Spring to ensure your student has the required immunizations.
If your student requires medication during the school day your physician will need to complete a Medication Authorization form. A parent/guardian Medication Authorization form will also need to be completed. These forms need to be updated annually. Medication must be sent in a properly labeled prescription bottle.
Emergency Action Plans for asthma, seizures, allergies and diabetes will need to be updated every school year. Your physician will need to complete these forms in order for your student to receive medication at school. Students who self-carry an asthma inhaler or epi-pen will need to have a Medication Authorization form on file.

Relevant Resources for Parents
Don't forget! FULLY CHARGED chromebooks are essential for remote learning!
Attendance Procedures
Teachers will be tracking attendance in Google Classroom so you will not need to fill out an attendance form each day. The classroom teacher will handle this for you.
Don't Be Late!
8:10AM 1st Bell
8:15AM Tardy Bell
1:45PM School Dismissed
All students arriving late to school (after 8:15AM) must report to the office for a tardy slip. Every 5th tardy a note will be sent home. Continuous tardiness may constitute other disciplinary consequences. Our goal is for all students to arrive at school on time each day. When students are late, they miss instructional opportunities. Please keep in mind that students arriving after 9:15AM are no longer considered tardy, but will instead receive a half day absence.
Being late is detrimental to all students' learning, especially if it occurs on a consistent basis. Be sure to do all you can to prevent tardiness. Your child will thank you for it!
