Fall 2020--Virtual Learning Edition

Parents and Friends of BSE,

Thank you for taking time to help your child(ren) with their studies during this unfortunate shut-down. We wish our students were with us inside the classrooms to learn! Thursday afternoon was certainly a moment in our world where we felt the deep impact of an impending extended absence from school. We will miss our students being with us. We also recognize that many of you are working jobs that do not allow you to be with your child during the typical school hours and we will work through this as best as we can. If your student is unable to complete assignments or be online during the day (from 9-3pm), you will likely see them recorded as absent for the day--PLEASE know that this is a temporary placeholder. If they complete work in the evenings or in subsequent days, teachers will notify our attendance office and we will be able to adjust the attendance code without issue. Teachers and staff will also be reaching out to you if multiple absences are recorded to make sure that your students do not have circumstances limiting the completion of the work. We ask that if at all possible, you notify your teacher of any emergency situations that may arise which prevent your child from completing virtual assignments. Feel free to reach out to me directly as well at or 812-883-3700.

As we adjust to our second span of remote learning, we hope that our students will work diligently to maintain their educational growth with participation in classroom lessons and special classes for each day. This is not ideal for anyone, but it is what our world requires in 2020-2021 to keep moving our students’ learning forward. Thank you for being our partners in helping the BSE community to stay “Fins Up and Fins Forward” in a difficult time in our history.

--Ms. Jen Lawyer, Principal

  • Assignments will be posted to Google Classroom each day by 9am. Students should follow the teacher schedule to complete all subjects and specials classes for the day.
  • Teachers will be available from 9-3pm each day to answer questions, but BSE teachers are specifically available by Video Meet/Chat from 1-2pm every day. You can choose the "Meet Link" in the banner of your Google Classroom page to access the virtual meeting.
  • Pre-Recorded lessons will also be posted throughout the week by each teacher. Please see announcements and the classwork tab to know what to view for your class.

FINS UP! FINS FORWARD!...And have a great day!

Need Help with Google Classroom?

Your child has worked in Computer class, the regular classroom, and in additional specials to become more familiar with Google Classroom since our first closure to remote learning earlier this year. They might surprise you with how much more they know! Still need help navigating the system? Please feel free to email the teacher or watch the links provided for extra help.
