Girls Golf Finishes 7th At State Championship

Congratulations to the Girls Golf team on finishing 7th at State in the MSHSAA Golf State Championships on Monday and Tuesday. The girls golfer's traveled to Kansas City to represent Howell and the Girls Golf program for the first time since 2011. The future looks bright for the Lady Vikings as they return 4 of their top 5 golfers for the 2019 season. Congratulations to senior Beta Vondera on a great high school golf career and thank you to all of our girls golfers and coaches for a successful season both on and off the course.

Zile & VanMatre Finish 8th At State Tennis

The individual girls tennis State Championships were held in Springfield on Friday and Saturday and our Lady Vikings Tennis program had a strong showing. Becca Zile and Elise VanMatre advanced to the medal round and finished 8th at State in Doubles while Kennidy Shirey made a strong run but fell just short of advancing to the medal round. This was an impressive season for the Girls Tennis program which brought home a conference and district championship as well as it's first ever appearance in the State Quarterfianls. Congratulations to these young ladies on a great season!

Girls Cross Country Wins District Championship

The Girls Cross Country program turned in an impressive performance at the District Meet on Saturday by placing five of it's runners in the top eleven. Congratulations to our Girls Cross Country members on winning the team District Championship and good luck this coming Saturday as they travel to Jeff City for the State Sectional Meet.

Congratulations to the Boys Cross Country program for taking third place at the District Meet on Saturday. Soccer Wins GAC South Championship, Enters National Rankings

The Boys Soccer program is having one of the most successful regular seasons in program history. Last week the Vikings won the GAC South Championship with their win over Holt. Currently the boys program is 17-2-1 and ranked 3rd in the State and 61st in the country. The Vikings will finish their regular season this week as they travel to FZS. Good luck to our Vikings in their final regular season game and in the Districts where they have earned the #1 seed.

Several Fall Howell Programs Earn State & National Rankings

Several of our fall programs are finishing up the regular season ranked at the State and National level. It has been the most successful regular season in school history with our fall programs winning seven of a possible eight conference championships so far this fall. The hard work of our students, coaches, parents and volunteers is producing results in our programs, Viking fans can't wait to see what's in store for the post-season ahead!

JV Volleyball Finishes Dominant Season With GAC Tournament Championship

The JV Girls VB program has had a dominant season this fall. On Saturday, the Lady Vikings won the GAC South Tournament Championship at Howell to finish their strong season. This fall the Lady Vikings compiled a 23-1-1 record. Congratulations to these hard working young ladies on an excellent season both on and off the court. The future looks bright for the girls volleyball program!

Football To Face Off With FZW In State Playoffs

The Vikings will face FZW on Friday night in the first round of the playoffs at Howell at 7:00 p.m. The game could be the last home game of the season for the Vikings. The winner of Friday nights game will most likely travel to Rock Bridge the following Friday to face off in the District Semifinals. The post-season ticket prices for the remainder of the year have been included below. Please remember that with the start of the football post-season these are MSHSAA sponsored events so punch passes, student passes and senior passes cannot be used. Good luck to our football program as they look to make a strong post-season run!

Boys Soccer Raises Nearly $1200 For Susan G Komen Foundation

Thank you to the Howell Soccer program for their efforts in our community. They recently held their Pink Out game and were able to raise $1,135.28 to be donated to the Susan G.Komen Foundation. Thank you to the student, parents and and fans that supported the event by attending and purchasing Pink Out shirts. The outreach efforts of soccer are part of an effort by all activities, clubs and sports at Howell to provide service to our community and to provide learning experiences outside of the activity or sport. Over the course of the past four years Howell programs have raised over $140,000 and donated over 60,000 hours in our community.

Initial Signing Day Attendees Information Needed

November 14th is the date of the NCAA Initial Signing Day. For students that will be signing or that have already signed with their respective schools, the Activies Department is offering the opportunity to have a "Signing Day Picture" taken in front of the Howell media wall. If you or your student would like to take part in the photo opportunity please drop by the Activities Office or email Activities Director Sean Erwin at sean.erwin@fhsdschools.org. On November 14th, the Activities Department will be taking photo's at 7:00 am in the main gym. You must let the Activities Department know prior to this date if you plan on attending.


In April, the Howell Activities Department will host it's annual "Signing Day Ceremony" for family and friends that includes breakfast, a celebration of students signing and an official signing day picture. Last year 65 student-participants going on to further their activity or sport at the college level were involved in this special celebration.

Nearly 235 Howell Alums Competing At College Level

Over the course of the past four years, Howell programs have seen high levels of success and the most students in school history going on to compete at the college level in their activity or sport. Currently the Howell Vikings have over 235 alums at the college level that are competing in an activity or sport. Howell is proud of these great young men and women that have represented our school and community so well as students and are continuing to do so at the college level. If you know of a alum that is competing in their activity or sport at the college level please share any celebrations or pictures with Activities Director, Sean Erwin so that we can continue to celebrate and support our alumni. Parents Provide Feedback In Activities Department Fall Survey


In order to better serve Howell programs, its student participants, coaches, and parents, a survey is given out each seaon to parents and student-participants involved in activities, clubs and sports at Howell. Activities Director, Sean Erwin uses the feedback as an integral part in improving Howell programs and providing improved experiences for those involved within the programs. Parents not only have the opportunity to provide feedback but can also have questions answered by providing contact information within the survey. The programs at Howell are currently experiencing some of the greatest success in school history and have recently been recognized at the National and State level for their efforts in activity, sport, classroom, leadership efforts and within the community. Thank you to all of our fall parents for providing feedback as our programs look to continue to grow the success and experience for students, parents and fans to even higher levels. Fall student-participants will also soon be providing feedback on their experience this season as well. You can view the results from the 2018 fall survey below.
