From The Principal's Desk
Tēnā koutou katoa,
It was great to see so many parents join us for our 'Celebration of Learning Days' last week, which also continue this week. This is a great opportunity to mark the year's achievements for the children, and we appreciate all those who were able to make it at such a busy time of year.
If you are not able to come along due to work commitments, you are, of course, welcome to make a time to drop in some time after school with your child to share their learning and progress this year.
Last week also saw the APPA Choir performance at Auckland Town Hall. As all those who attended will attest, this was yet again another spectacular evening of music led by APPA Principal Conductor Jonathan Lambert. The TPS Choir represented us and lent their voices to the proceedings with great pride, and I would like to thank Jonathan for all of his hard work bringing the performance together so successfully.
Congratulations also go to all those who performed on the Athletics track last week, with the team achieving joint 4th place at the Western Zone Interschool Competition. Individual placings were as follows:
60m: Jasmine (2nd), Riley (2nd) Rhys (3rd) Jonny (3rd) | 100m: Jasmine (3rd), Jonny (3rd), Tom (2nd) | 800m: Lara (2nd), Tom (1st) | Shotput: Lily (3rd) | High Jump: Martha (2nd) Jonny (3rd) | Long Jump: Te Kari (2nd) Tom (2nd)
Another excellent performance to mark the end of a very successful sporting year, as I'm sure you'll agree, and my thanks to Teresa Hannard for her organisation of the day.
On another end of year milestone, please also look out this Friday when reports go live on our 'Parent Portal'. Login details will be sent home later this week.
In these reports, we work hard to achieve a summary of the year's progress and the individual journey for every child. It's important to be mindful in this respect that progress looks different for every child, and happens at a unique pace. One thing that all the children have in common without exception, however, is - whatever their areas of strength or areas for improvements - a great deal to encourage and celebrate with them as they look ahead to their next challenges. We look forward to sharing this with you later in the week.

Titirangi and the School Councillors are fundraising for others:
Pencil drive for Bangladesh
Angel Week for the Auckland City Mission,
and
A Bake Stall for the Kaikoura earthquake victims
At Titirangi Primary school the school council are fundraising for a number of things this term, to show our support for others:
a pencil drive for schools in Bangladesh
an angel day for the children that can not celebrate christmas (part of the Auckland City Mission Drive),
We know it sounds like a lot but ‘tis a season for giving’. Any help would be appreciated, but please note: none of these are compulsory.
When:
Angel Week and the Pencil Drive will run from 1st December - 8th December
Kaikoura Bake Stall will be on the 8th December
How can you help:
For the pencil drive we encourage you to bring a pencil or two to donate to the schools in Bangladesh. Class teachers will be collecting them, and we are running a class competition for this event. Matua Paul will be delivering them over Christmas.
For the Angel Day you could either bring in canned/packaged food or even a little present for the kids that can't celebrate Christmas (these need to be wrapped and identified as suitable for girl or boy).
For the Kaikoura event we would love you to do some baking for the 8th December and bring in cakes, cupcakes and biscuits and/or bring in some gold coins to purchase them. All cakes will be sold at $2 and biscuits 50c, so please keep it simple.
As we said before, any help is appreciated but we do understand that this is a lot of fundraising in one week.
Lewis and Ashley (school councillors)
PS
Check out the posters in your child’s classroom for more details or email the school council at terryw@titirangi.school.nz
We are also looking for a couple of parent helpers to help run the bake stall on the 8th December, so if you can help email terryw@titirangi.school.nz
Lost Property
Please take a moment to look through the lost property for items belonging to your children clothing, shoes, drink bottles lunch boxes, towels, goggles etc
Any Lost property left at the end of term will donated to charity.
Ice- Cream Cafe
Trumpets will be discounted to $2 at the Friday Cafe for the next two weeks as we have some excess stock left from The Big Event.
The PTA would like to thank those that have given up their time to run this fundraiser this year and to those that have supported it. Special thanks to Rebecca, Jane, Trisha, and Jacque.
Congratulations to our Merit Award Winners!
With thanks to our Platinum Sponsors
