Elkins Library Update from Rachel Baker
Youth Services
Do you smell Summer in the air? We are excited to announce our Summer programs! There are so many ways to engage with your library and things to look forward to in the months ahead.
This summer we celebrate the Summer Reading theme of TAILS AND TALES! Animals of all kinds roam the lands and soar through the air and many have both a Tail and a Tale! Explore the world of life around you and find out what is special about so many of the animals who live with us on our little blue planet. Keep your eye on our website, Facebook and this newsletter for upcoming dates and details!
Story Time-To-Go! These kits are created for young readers to promote literacy development. Each kit is based on the interests and reading level of the individual reader and contains books, activity sheets and crafts with materials included. Call or email to receive your own kit for curbside or in library pick up. This is a program that is currently serving over 80 children per week, ages birth to 13.
Teen Talk: meets every Wednesday from 3:30pm to 4:30pm to discuss current events, share ideas and book suggestions. This wonderful group of young people is best suited for people aged 13 to 16. If you ever want to feel better about your world, find a teenager to talk and listen to.
T.R.E.A.T Boxes (Teens Read, Eat and Talk)
This program has taken right off, we are currently serving 20 young adults. There is still time to sign up and get a box of goodies delivered right to your doorstep! Contact the library and fill out the signup survey, and we will build a personalized monthly box just for you! You'll get 2 books to borrow (and return, please!), snacks, and some fun bits and pieces as well. Plus, before you return the box itself, make your mark on your box; draw something, add a sticker, write out your favorite quote- whatever you'd like! Express yourself! Then, the boxes will be safely quarantined before being sent out to another teen, who'll make their own mark, and so on. Sign up now & join the fun! Suggested for ages 13 and up.

PTO Update - Masks for Grade 5
Staff Appreciation Update from Volunteer Coordinator Heather Drouin
For Teacher Appreciation week the PTO came up with different ways to acknowledge the staff each day. They had custom face masks made, stocked the teachers lounge with flavored water, fresh fruit, ice cream and chocolates and will be hosting a yoga class for the staff after school. Mrs. Chubb has been recognizing a couple of staff members every day during announcements and has corresponding certificates hanging up in the teachers lounge. She also treated the staff to cupcakes from The Red Blazer.
We've also had family members deliver handwritten cards, flowers and books for the teachers, which have been so very appreciated. We celebrated Nurses Day and School Lunch heroes day as well. CES is truly fortunate to have so many dedicated staff members and it's been great recognizing them all!
