We will meet in the media center for some brief Report Card conference role plays, compliments of the Report Card committee! Then we will move to the PD sessions.
Discovery Education: More Than Just Videos!
Your Discovery Ed Teacher Leaders will help you see what DE has to offer beyond videos and benchmarks. This session will focus on the wide variety of resources you can search for and one particular tool called Board Builder. You will get an overview of what is available and plenty of hands-on time. Facilitated by: Katie Winchell, Kathleen Woerner, Cathy Wilson, Julie Hahn, Kristen Logan, and Amy Archer.
Problem-Solving to Implement the Mathematical Practices
During this session you will look at problem-solving strategies to help better implement the Standards of Mathematical Practice. (A revised repeat of last month!) Facilitated by Stacy Giaccone and Drew Polly.
Science Notebooks: Writing in the Science Classroom
Looking for ways to maximize instructional time? The use of science notebooks in science teaching and learning deepens students' understanding of science concepts and processes while strengthening students' writing and analytical abilities. In this session, participants will gain an understanding of the importance of using science notebooks as well as learn the essential components that are included in this approach to science writing. Rubrics and tips for how to use science notebooks as a formative assessment will be shared. Facilitated by Zebetta King.
L to the P to the M to the....E!! (Creating Opportunities for E's)
Many of us have questioned how to create opportunities for students to score an E on individual assignments or on the report card. John and Margie will lead a discussion on this topic and help address questions such as: How do we create multiple opportunities for E's on individual assignments? What could an E look like for certain standards? (ELA/SS and Math/Science will meet separately.) Bring your upcoming assessments and ideas and we will discuss and create ways to provide opportunities to exceed the standard.
