WELCOME, MRS. HUCK!
"My name is Tiffany Huck, and I am excited to be the new algebra teacher for 7th and 8th grade. I grew up in Appleton, attended the University of Wisconsin - Green Bay, and then returned to Appleton to begin my teaching career. I previously taught for eight years at Highlands Elementary in Appleton before stepping away from teaching to be a stay-at-home mom. My husband, Andy, and I have been married for 13 years and have a son, Camden, who is a third grader at Classical. We have been so thankful for the education he has received here, and I am excited to have been given the opportunity to step into this role!"
Mrs. Huck teaches at Classical 3rd and 4th hour (9:35-11:10). She will be here at Resource (2:15-2:45) on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday most weeks for any students that would need extra help/have questions.

CONGRATULATIONS, LILLIAN BEVERS!
I am very excited to announce the wonderful artistic accomplishment of 6th Grader, Lillian Bevers!
Lillian’s 5th grade watercolor painting will represent Classical School as one of the pieces that hangs in the conference room of the Appleton Area School District Board of Education. The Appleton Area School District Board asks the art teachers from each school in the district to choose a piece to hang in the School Board conference room for the remainder of the school year while the Board conducts their monthly meetings. These pieces represent the hard work and talents of students from all grade levels from all schools in the district. We are very proud to have Lillian represent Classical School’s visual talents this year!

CLASSICAL SCHOOL INFORMATION NIGHT
VALENTINE'S DAY
- Please be sure to include a card for each student in the classroom to avoid hurt feelings.
- Students may include one small, inexpensive non-food item per Valentine card such as a pencil, small set of stickers, etc.
KNOWLEDGE-A-THON (KAT)
Each student is given a list of 100 questions and answers related to our Core Knowledge curriculum that will be taught -- or has already been taught -- this school year. Students study with their teachers and parents to prepare for KAT Day while collecting pledges from their families. For instance let's say Aunt Betty offers her niece a per question pledge of 50 cents. Her niece will be asked 100 questions on KAT Day. If her niece gets 95 answers correct, her Aunt Betty will donate $47.50 (.50 X 95) to our school. Also, anyone can choose to give a straight dollar amount instead of a per question pledge.
Unlike many other potential school fundraisers involving selling products or coupons, KAT is a low-cost, high-profit fundraiser that promotes our curriculum and guarantees that 100% of what students earn goes directly to Classical School.
More information will follow in the Pegasus Flyers but for now below is the timeline for the 2020 KAT fundraiser:
1. Poster contest runs February 13th -- February 27th. Students can pick up poster paper in the office on Thursday, February 13th. The last day to turn in completed posters is Thursday, February 27th.
2. Kick Off: Friday, March 20th at 1:45 PM. Students receive their question booklets/pledge sheets
3. Star Week: March 23rd -- March 27th
4. Lottery Lollapalooza: March 30th -- April 3rd
5. Bingo Bonanza: April 13th -- April 17th
6. Spirit Week: April 20th -- April 24th
7. KAT DAY: April 24th

CLASSICAL SCHOOL SCIENCE FAIR
Classical School's Science Fair will be held on Tuesday, March 24, 2020 from 3:00 to 6:00 PM in the Forum. The middle school students will be presenting science project displays. Local scientists from the community, along with parents from our school who have a background in science, will be judging the displays and determining awards.
Due to the nature of the planning, hard work, and perhaps some breakable or valuable displays, children of all ages through sixth grade must remain with their parents for this event.
