Notes from the Principal
Spring Break is Next Week!!!
I hope everyone has a chance to relax and recharge at least a little this next week. Get outside, play, run, walk, and most importantly, enjoy family!!! That is what makes a memorable Spring Break. It is truly not where you are, but who you are with, that makes all the difference. Take this opportunity to create some wonderful family memories!!!
Also, what a great night we had this past Friday at our 4th – 5th grade dance. The kiddos had a great time and it was a rousing success. Another huge thank-you to our PTA and other volunteers who helped make this possible.
Human Responsibility Curriculum Meeting & Opt Out Letters
In today’s Take Home Folders there is a letter from me informing all parents of an optional meeting next Thursday, March 26th, from 6-7 pm to discuss the AISD Human Sexuality Education Curriculum that will be taught in each class in May. (I have included the letter with this Boone Bear Facts email.) At this meeting we will review AISD policy regarding this curriculum, provide an opportunity to review an overview of the topics at each grade level, discuss the lessons with a grade level teacher, and provide information on the opt out process should you not wish your child to participate in this curriculum.
On March 26th, we will be sending home grade level specific “Opt Out” letters to all parents. If you do want your child to participate, no further action is needed. If you do not want them to participate, you will need to complete the opt out letter and return it to your child’s teacher.
Additional details and information are provided in the letter that was sent home today and in the opt out letter that you will receive on March 26th.
Spelling Bee
Yes, there will be a Spelling Bee this year!!! On April 22nd, we will hold Boone’s Annual Spelling Bee for our 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students in the cafeteria beginning at 9:00am. Spelling word lists are being sent home with students this week. Individual class finals will be the week of April 13th, with two students from each class being chosen to participate in the school Spelling Bee on the 22nd.
Campus Advisory Council seeking new members for the 2019-20 school year
The Boone Campus Advisory Council is looking for 2-3 new parents to fill roles on the CAC. We meet once a month from 3:20 – 4:20 pm. The role of the CAC is to provide support and guidance over various school related topics and plans. Parent input is extremely valued at Boone and this is an important part of what keeps Boone great. The application for the CAC is attached to this email. Please complete the application and submit it to the main office. The CAC will be reviewing the applications and voting on new members at our April and May meetings. If you have any additional questions, please contact me directly at 512-414-5311.
Next Boone Grounds Work Day
Our next Boone Grounds Workday is scheduled for Saturday, April 4th, from 9am-12pm. We will be focusing on cleaning up the grounds and expanding the work around out Monarch Habitat. More details will follow after Spring Break.Crawford's Connections
Happy Spring Break!
It has been a very busy semester so I am hoping everyone gets time to rest and have some time to spend with family and friends!
We have had weather ranging from cold, cool, and very warm, so our lost and found is FULL of coats and sweaters!! Please come take time to see if you can find your child's missing article of clothing. To keep your child's coats and sweaters safe and sound and easily returnable we suggest to label them with their first and last names. 🙂
I hope our students get time to rest over the break, but remember that it is important that they also find time to READ! Choice is one of the biggest motivators for young readers so let them find their favorites and read daily.
Take care and we will see you after the break!❤️
