PA State Board of Education - 2023 HS Student Representative Application
Applications are being accepted to fill a high school student position on the Pennsylvania State Board of Education. The applicant must be a rising junior and be a member of the Class of 2025.
In 2008, the Board amended its by-laws to add two high school student members - one junior student member and one senior student member - as well as two students from higher education. These positions have provided public school students with an unprecedented voice in the development of education policy. The student members serve on the Board in a non-voting, advisory capacity, and act as a liaison with their peers regarding policy issues under consideration by the Board. The Board has benefited greatly from the contributions of the student members, and their views have become an important part of the Board’s deliberations on education issues.
The Pennsylvania Association of Student Councils (PASC) is charged with recommending high school students to serve on the Board. Applications for a high school junior student member will be accepted until March 4, 2023. The 2023 student member application is available by clicking this link. Finalists for the position will be asked to participate in a virtual interview with PASC staff.
