Elmwood Express
November 23, 2022

We would like to take this opportunity and thank all of our families for participating in our food drive for the Elmwood Park Community Church's Food Drive. Together we helped many families have meals this holiday season. We were also able to collect many coats to help keep our community members warm this season. Thank you to the student council and all of those who participated. Look below to see some of the pictures of our students delivering the food to the food pantry.
Speaking of cool weather, we will continue to send students outside each day for recess so long as the weather is above 20 degrees. Please dress your child appropriately and make sure they have cold weather gear at school. If you child has a medical condition that requires them to stay in during recess, please contact our school nurse, Ms. Jerzyk.
We want to wish you and your families a very happy Thanksgiving. We look forward to seeing you all when school resumes on Monday, November 28th. As always, if you have any questions or concerns please be sure to reach out.
Sincerely,
Mr. Lerner & Mrs. Hagins
Just a reminder as the weather turns colder of our school hours. On Mondays, learning begins at 8:40. This means children are expected to have entered our building, hang up their coats, take off their boots and are ready to learn. Our students start going into their classrooms at 8:35. Please be sure you give your child adequate time to prepare by having them to school on time. If a child has 7 tardies in a semester, they may receive a school consequence, but more importantly, being tardy has a negative impact on their day and they miss critical learning time. Please be sure you give your child adequate time to prepare by having them to school on time.
To make sure all students have time to get ready for the day, our building opens at 8:20 each day. Please do not drop your child off prior to 8:20, especially as it gets colder outside. Students will not be permitted in the building, and students who are on our grounds prior to 8:20 are unsupervised. As a reminder, all children are invited to eat breakfast, which is free for all! Students should arrive to the cafeteria before 8:35 to grab their breakfast.
If you aren't following us on Twitter, here is some of what you are missing!
We are currently looking for volunteers for our Holiday Shoppe. Brought to us by our PATT, children will have an opportunity to do some shopping for family members this holiday season. If you are interested in helping out, please sign up here.
We also encourage all parents to look at the website to see the items that are for sale and the cost. More information will be coming home in the next few days but if you have questions, please reply to this message. Each teacher will have a time to shop with their class. To preview what we will be selling, visit the website here.
Thank you to all of our fifth grade families who attended Elm Middle School's course selection night. In case you missed it, copies of the presentation are below.
