NEW LEBANON SCHOOL
Weekly Updates
¿Necesita leer nuestro boletín en español?
Happy Saturday, Bobcat Families! This week we introduced our March IB Learner Profile Trait - Principled. Principled learners act with integrity and honesty, with a strong sense of fairness and justice, and with respect for the dignity and rights of people everywhere. In other words - principled learners are fair and honest and do the right thing - this sounds like our school norm BE HONEST. Ask you child how they were principled today!
This past Wednesday evening we hosted almost 30 incoming Kindergarten families for our Kindergarten Orientation - record breaking attendance! It was wonderful to see so many familiar faces as well as a few new ones. If you have a friend or neighbor who needs to enroll their child in Kindergarten at New Lebanon School (the child must turn 5 on or before January 1, 2024), please have them call the school at 203-531-9139. We can't wait to meet our newest Bobcats!
Report Cards & Second Parent-Teacher Conference
Last Friday you received a Pre-Conference Questionnaire in your child's backpack. Thank you to the many families who filled those out and returned them to your teacher. If you forgot, you can still do it - this weekend is a great time!
As a reminder, there is no school on Monday, March 13th and Wednesday, March 15th is an early release day - both of these times are reserved for conferences. If you have not yet signed up for a conference time, please reach out to your child's teacher via dojo ASAP.
If you continue to scroll down, you will find a Family Conference Guide to help prepare you for conferences. Please feel free to reach out with any questions!
Special Congratulations to Natasha Tomayo, 5th Grade
We would like to congratulate Natasha Tomayo in 5th grade for WINNING this year's Fire Prevention Poster program for ALL of Fairfield County, CT!!! She will be representing Fairfield County at a special luncheon on March 29th. Congratulations, Natasha, on your hard work and artistic talents!
Safe Talk - Attention 1st and 4th Grade Families
During the week of March 20th, New Lebanon School will participate in the Kids in Crisis SafeTalk program. This program, which uses the curriculum of the Child Assault Prevention Project (CAP), is supervised and presented by Kids in Crisis in collaboration with the International Center for Assault Prevention (ICAP).
SafeTalk is a free, proven, nationally acclaimed curriculum that focuses on empowerment and encourages children to be “safe, strong and free.” Age-appropriate classroom workshops combine guided discussion with role-plays that focus on situations children frequently encounter, like bullies, strangers and known adults who may behave inappropriately.
The SafeTalk curriculum teaches children how to recognize and respond to potentially harmful situations and how to express their concerns to a trusted adult. The workshop is completely confidential and respectful of the privacy of each child.
Please check your child's backpack for a form if you do not wish for them to participate in this program.
