News from the School Counselors
It’s been a great start to the new school year. We’ve really enjoyed getting to know our new 6th graders and they are adjusting well to middle school life.
We are excited to share our new counseling website with you. Our website provides students/families with mental health resources, information on applying to schools, work permit information and the community job board. We are currently working on updating our “student centered library” that will be featured soon!

We are pleased to announce that the Tyngsborough Public Schools, in collaboration with the Town of Tyngsborough, has partnered with the William James INTERFACE Referral Service for the 2021-2022 school year. The William James INTERFACE Referral Service is a mental health resource and referral helpline available to subscribing communities across Massachusetts to access outpatient mental health services.
When you contact William James, you will speak with a resource and referral counselor who will complete a confidential intake. Test and Stay Consent
The Tyngsborough Public Schools will be participating in the Test and Stay program as offered by DESE this year.
The goal of “Test and Stay” is to allow asymptomatic students and staff to remain in school as safely as possible, while lessening the burden of school related quarantine on students, their families, teachers, and school administrators. Under the “Test and Stay” approach, students who come into contact during a school related event with an individual who tests positive will have the option of quarantine or “Test and Stay.” Those who participate in the TPS “Test and Stay” program do not need to quarantine with negative test results. The “Test and Stay” program is a daily nasal swab performed by the school nurse or other qualified healthcare professional for 5-7 days following exposure.
For your student to be eligible for this program, we must have signed consent on file before testing can occur. If we do not have a consent form on file, your student will need to quarantine for a minimum of 7 days. If you would like your student to participate in the “Test and Stay” program, please visit this link and fill in the consent form.
NOTE: The above consent form references pooled testing, symptomatic testing and Test and Stay. Please know that the Tyngsborough Public Schools will only be performing symptomatic testing for students who present with symptoms of COVID-19 during school hours (students should not come to school if they are feeling sick while at home) and testing related to the Test and Stay Program. We will not be participating in pooled testing.
Proof of Vaccination
Proof of Vaccination As a reminder in an effort to better understand our current vaccination rate, and to assess how close we are to the 80% threshold we would like to give parents the option to provide proof of vaccination for your child. If your child has received the COVID-19 vaccination and you would like this information added to your child’s health record, please provide proof of vaccine through one of the following options: Reply to (vaccination@tyngsboroughps.org) with an attached copy of vaccination card Secure Health Office Fax (978) 649-9194 Photocopy your student’s proof of vaccination and send it into the school nurse in a sealed envelope addressed to the Health Office While the school nurses have access to the Massachusetts State Immunization Registry which is a database that keeps confidential vaccination records in one place. Individuals choose to opt into this database which is typically offered by the primary care physician, or they may decline to have the information shared. As a result, our nurses do not always have the most updated information. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
