School History

Baylor was originally established on February, 1st 1845 by Reverend James Huckins. Originally the school was going to be named "San Jacinto" as a reminder of when Texans were part of an independent nation. The name later changed to "Baylor" in honor of Judge R.E.B. Baylor. Classes at the university began in May 1846. Later on in that same year Baylor and Waco University combined and turned into Baylor University in Waco, Texas. The university was one of the first christian universities in Texas. In this day it is know as the oldest, continually operating university in the state. It is also one of the highest ranked universities in liberal arts.

In the NCAA tournament the Baylor Bears have had their fair share of Wins and Losses. Most of them being wins. Baylor may have lost their last two games but before they won over 7 of their previous games. Currently they stand in the big 12.

Earlier on in history they have made it to the final 4 twice of their 8 appearances in the tournament.
