2016 Wood County Spelling Bee

Congratulations to Abby Wichman (6th grade), Lillie Luce (7th grade) and Gabe Simpson (8th grade) they will be competing for Otsego in the 2016 Wood County Spelling Bee!
The 2016 Wood County Spelling Bee will be held Saturday, February 20th, 2016 at the Wood County Educational Service Center in Bowling Green, Ohio. The competition will begin at 8:30 a.m. If needed, a weather make-up date has been scheduled for the following week, on February 27, 2016.

The top six spellers from the Wood County spelling Bee will advance to the Blade Northwest Ohio Championship Spelling Bee. It will be held at the Owens Community College Center for Fine & Performing Art on March 12, 2016 at 10:30 a.m.

Student Information Night 2016

All students and their families from grades 8-11 are formally invited to attend our Student Information Night on February 3 in the Otsego High School Commons from 6:30-8:00. Starting at 6:30 we will be offering a student activities fair with informational tables from all of our academic departments, student clubs and originations, Penta Career Center, our partner schools for College Credit Plus and various military recruiters. At 7:00 our 6-9 th grade counselor, David Fryling, will be offering our annual Freshman Orientation presentation in the Auditorium for all 8th grade families. Mr. Fryling will be covering topics ranging from graduation requirements, scheduling process, testing information and more. This presentation is specifically for families with current 8th grade students. At the same time, in our Gym, our 10-12th grade counselor, Jennifer Wronkovich-Clark, will be presenting on the College Credit Plus program and course selection for students in grades 9-11. Mrs. Wronkovich-Clark will be discussing topics related to the College Credit Plus program related to admission requirements, course selection for college courses, how credits are awarded, as well as the scheduling process and tips for families of students in grades 9-11. Athletic Attendance Policy (See item #4 in Athletic Responsibility Waiver)

To participate in a contest or attend practice, an athlete must be in school all day of the contest unless prior arrangements are made with the principal. In the case of a week night contest, an athlete or cheerleader must be in attendance the entire following day in order to participate in the next contest.

This eligibility policy will apply to any student athletes, managers, statisticians, cheerleaders, and other extracurricular activities at OJHS involving students in grades 7 and 8. The junior high school principal or district superintendent may declare a student immediately ineligible for involvement in a serious offense.
