What's happening this week...
Language Arts- This week's spelling patterns are digraphs and trigraphs, letters that come together to make a new sound. We will continue identifying types of sentences this week. This week our focus will be on commands and exclamations. We will continue to find the subject and predicate in each sentence as well.
*Please continue to review at home subject and predicate. The subject is the who or what the sentence is about, the naming part, and the predicate is what the subject is doing, the telling part. The dog / ran very fast.
We will have a Unit Test over all the grammar we have reviewed over the last 5 weeks this Friday. This will include complete sentences, subjects, predicates, statements, exclamations, commands and questions.
Math-- Our test over addition and subtraction strategies went extremely well. Keep working on math facts! We began Unit 2, patterns and skip counting. Practice counting by 2's, 5's, and 10's, up to 1000. Take turns where each of you says a different number.
*Remember to practice math facts every day. It is so important that they are fluent in those facts.
Social Studies/Science--Our unit on the Regions and Rivers of Georgia is going very well. Students have been able to organize the new information they have learned and have placed it in their journals. Their journal will be filled with different facts about the climate, geography and natural resources of each region. They will also include maps of the regions and rivers to help them study where they are located. Please remember that our journals contain all the information students need to study. The test will be next Wednesday the 17th.
