Interplay of 3 Energy Systems

Surfing energy system interplay-

During surfing all three energy systems are inter-playing with each other with one dominate energy system at all times.

At the start of surfing when you are carrying the board out to the water your body would be working in the aerobic system because you are only working in a sub maximal intensity of <80% max HR for over 75 seconds. When running out to the water with our board your body would move into the anaerobic glycolysis system because you are working at a 85%-90% max HR for a longer period of time for about 5-15 seconds before moving into the ATP/PC system to jump on to the board and start to paddle out into the water/wave which is high intensity 95%+ max HR for a short period of 5 seconds with peak power of 2-4 seconds than you will move into the anaerobic system for a longer intensity. When you reach the spot in the water and you are waiting for a wave your body will be working in a aerobic system because you don't require a high intensity of energy and aerobic system is a long duration when it is the dominate system. When you are paddling with the wave you are working to keep up with the wave which is a high intensity for a short duration. as you are riding the wave you are working in the anaerobic system because you are just riding with the board. Its an increased intensity from aerobic system but isn't high enough to be the ATP/PC system. After you finish the wave you would be working in the aerobic system because you don't require a high energy level to hold your board.

200m sprint energy system interplay-

When you are setting up your blocks with you shoes your body needs to be storing or recharging the other energy systems therefore your body is working in the aerobic system which is a sub maximal level of intensity for a long period of duration 75> seconds. When you are waiting for the starting gun to go off your body is still in the aerobic system. When the gun goes off your body instantly moves into the ATP/PC system because your body requires a sudden high intensity bout of energy which means your body is working at a max HR of 95% for a short duration of about 4 seconds which is the peak power of the, system. As you are sprinting towards the finish line your body moves into the anaerobic system because you have reached the end of the ATP/PC system, anaerobic system is an intermediate duration lasting 5-60 seconds with a peak power of 5-15 seconds. When you are approaching the finish line your body has worn off the peak power of anaerobic system which means you will than move into the aerobic system which will be your body's resting and recovery period. which is re-synthesising the other energy systems.

Water polo energy system interplay-

At the start of the game your body is in a rest period which is an aerobic system because it is a sub maximal intensity because it is a long duration of time. When you are swimming towards the ball your body would begin to move into the anaerobic system because it requires more intense amount of energy for a longer period of time. When you are going to shoot a goal your body requires the ATP/PC system because it is a short duration of maximal energy. The ATP/PC system only last for a short duration of about 0-6 seconds.
