Vision:

Principal's Message

Well we are off to a strong start of the school year. Teachers are assessing students preparing to write grades on Friday. I know they are looking forward to meeting with all of you during conferences, the week of November 8th. You should have received communication from your child’s classroom teacher giving you the option to meet in person or online. They should also have shared a way for you to schedule a conference time with them. If you have not scheduled a conference time yet, please reach out to your child’s classroom teacher to schedule one. I know teachers look forward to sharing your child’s progress with you.

We are also entering into the colder months where we will be forced to stay inside when it is too wet to go outside. This is the time of the year when sickness tends to begin to rise. We have done an amazing job so far of keeping our school and classrooms open and would love to continue the trend. We can only do this with all of your help. Please keep your child home if they are not feeling well. I know this is not always easy as many parents work but it is extremely important to keep from spreading the virus and any other illnesses. Thank you for being a part of our team and making our school safe for student learning.

AVID

1st Grade: Will be focusing on Costa’s Levels of Questioning and Thinking. Each teacher will be introducing the concept to first grade classrooms. They will have an anchor chart hung in their room to help support this new learning.

2nd Grade: In second grade, we have been developing strong organizational routines through the use of our AVID Binders. These binders help all students and families to stay updated on our class events as well as serve as a place to transport important documents back and forth to school. Students are also developing their organizational skills through the use of 2- and 3-column notes and graphic organizers to support their classroom learning.

3rd Grade: Has been focusing on strategic partner talk this month. During strategic partner talks we use sentence frames and academic language to share ideas and learn from each other.
