Statewide Assessment Updates from IDOE due to COVID-19

On Friday, March 13th, the Indiana Department of Education's Director of Student Assessments released this memo to Superintendents and Corporation Test Coordinators. "In light of COVID-19, the IDOE requested forgiveness for required state assessments. Until further notice, the Spring 2020 IREAD-3 will be postponed. ISTEP+ First Time Administration (FTA) to 10th grade students will also be suspended effective March 16, 2020. IDOE is awaiting forgiveness guidance from Governor Holcomb's office and the United States Department of Education on all other state assessments, including ILEARN and I AM."

On Monday, March 16th, the IDOE's Office of Student Assessment released this assessment update. "As was stated in Friday's update, IREAD-3 is postponed and ISTEP+ FTA testing is currently suspended. Online systems have been disabled to ensure testing is paused. Paper materials for IREAD-3 must be stored securely during the paused status. The IDOE is working to provide additional updates and guidance. We will release updates daily to ensure you have the most current information."

Team SV Revisits Team Brown County Schools

On Friday, March 6th, members of the admin team, board members, and teachers visited the STEM-certified schools of Brown County to learn more about how Project Lead The Way (PLTW) programming benefits their students. This is a great partnership, and we appreciate the support and hospitality from Superintendent Hammack and her teachers. The students of Brown County Schools welcomed us warmly and were eager to share why they love PLTW, love learning about STEM careers, and love their schools.
