Instructional Focus:
With this being the last newsletter before the end of the quarter, I have something very important for you all to think about.
Second quarter is often times the quickest moving and most stressful quarter (weather changing, holidays, etc). It is absolutely imperative that you take a break during Fall Break. Put on an auto reply on your email, don't come into work, and be a spouse, parent, friend for the entire week. Enjoy the cooler temperatures, have lunch with a friend, go shopping (for non school supplies). I really think that you will thank me when the stress of the holidays hits. Also, please enjoy having a jeans week this week :)
I appreciate all of you!
4.5 days, let's finish strong!
Bloomz...
- This online app can help with parent communication. It's easy to use because it looks like many other social media sites. However, with that in mind, some people can treat it like other social media sites. Have you ever read some of the comments on posts around social media? Be mindful of what you post and how it's going to be received.
- If a discussion between parents on your feed looks at all like if could get heated, it's important to step in. You are the moderator, so step in to solve the issue, or delete the thread.
- With social media, boundaries are often blurred. Ensure that you are not answering things from parents immediately. You have 24 hours to respond to communication from parents. Bloomz would fit under this procedure as well.
No Photo Clarification...
Please note that this means their picture should not be taken and posted ANYWHERE, including a class account such as Bloomz, Shutterfly, or Remind. These students should not even be placed in the yearbook.
Sonja will be calling these families after Fall Break to ensure that selecting that their student not have their picture taken was intentional.

ReadyGEN Missing Materials...
We lost a set of books for a homeroom teacher while we lost a section. GPS is NOT replacing lost or misplaced student/teacher's editions of books. Settler's Point got hit with a bill of over $900 to replace these student books.
I need to admit that I didn't always have a good count of supplies while I was a teacher and trusted the district would help if something was lost. This is not the case with these materials, and we need to be very aware of what we are giving and getting back from students.
Morning Announcements....
However, I have a meeting almost every morning, so I am often literally running to announcements. With that in mind, I am prepping most of the weekly announcements on Monday morning.
If you need something announced, put it in Kelly's document. If it is not in there on Monday morning, there is a pretty good chance I am not going to see it. Try to plan ahead, and if there is an absolute emergency, please see Maria.
Certified Schedule for 10/14...
For scheduling purposes, count on PD from 8:00-12:00, lunch on your own, and then having the rest of the day to get stuff done. You can finish report cards, plan with your team, clean up your room, etc.
