STARTING STRONG
We have had a FANTASTIC start to the year! Praise the Lord.
Praise the Lord for His faithfulness, His goodness, His leading, His kindness . . . for who He is!
It was so good to see everyone again on Tuesday. We began the day with a powerful, God-focused, powhiri where we welcomed in new staff, new students and whanau to who and what we are as the Kaitaia Abundant Life School. Head Boy Sam Edgecombe represented the student body well with a strong mihimihi. Head Girl Indi Tahitahi-Matiu and her fellow Prefects ensured that the student body was on point and they gave a powerful welcome to our manuhiri. Pastor Ivy delivered a clear word from the Lord regarding our identity in the Lord and following that we broke into worship to the King of all kings . . . Jesus Christ. What a great way to start our year.
To see everyone again, to hear them all . . . just awesome. Our staff are focused and loving being back. Our kids seem to be the same . . . well, at least when I pop into their classrooms! It really is great to be back together again.
We are in the throes of confirming programmes, dates, activities, camps and the like for this term and communications will be forthcoming from each syndicate over the next couple of weeks. Secondary students have a newsletter going home tomorrow. Primary students have already had their newsletter go out (looking forward to seeing all Primary parents next week at the Primary Meet the Teacher night on Valentines night!).
As parents, please ask your child how their day was, if they’ve got any newsletters and pray with them - nothing beats the prayers and covering of a parent for their child.
We look forward to working with you and your child . . . for their best outcomes and for His glory.

Cyclone Gabrielle
We are continuing to monitor Cyclone Gabrielle which appears to be intensifying as it travels south. It looks like it will make landfall on Monday. To this end, we will heed official advice and take the necessary measures to ensure the safety of everyone here at school. Please keep an eye on our school’s Facebook page for any developments that are school-related. We have also received notification from the bus company that MoE have given them permission not to run the bus service if they deem it is too dangerous. So please ensure you do check our Facebook page for updates.
In the meantime, we encourage whanau to clean their drains and spouting, taking the necessary measures to ensure that you and your whanau are safe. We don’t know what the weather may bring but we do know that our God is powerful, faithful and in control - it is in God that we trust!
