"Pathway to a Bright Future"
One Family. One Team. One Goal.
Dear Silver Trail Middle School Families,
We hope this newsletter finds you well and excited for the upcoming school year! As we prepare for a successful return to the classrooms, we have some important updates and information to share. We look forward to seeing our students on Monday, August 21, 2023.
Principal Message
Dear Parents, Students, and Community,
It is with extreme delight that I welcome everyone to the 2023-2024 school year. In anticipation of the excitement that each new school year brings, I am most certain your child is anxious to reconnect with friends, forge new friendships, and establish positive connections with new teachers.
The faculty and staff are overly excited to build upon the academic successes made at Silver Trail Middle School during the 2022-2023 school year. We await the Florida Department of Education to post final baseline grades reflective of student achievement levels on the new Florida Assessment of Student Thinking (FAST) and other end of course assessments. I am proud to announce that our students performed in the upper tier of all middle schools countywide by surpassing district and state averages in all assessed subject areas. Such accomplishments demonstrated our students’ and teachers’ continued hard work and dedication to excellence.
The opening of this school year brings great anticipation, as there are many exciting new beginnings to provide our students broader and richer educational experiences. In addition to transitioning to a block schedule, our students will be afforded expanded academic opportunities via the Cambridge International and Genuine Explorations, Applications, and Research in Science (G.E.A.R.S.) curriculums. We will also expose our students to numerous engaging elective pathways that will maximize their individual potential, highlight their unique levels of excellence, and enrich their overall middle school experience. We are committed to continuously challenge our high standards for student achievement while simultaneously making school fun again!
Our staff strategically selected the new and more comprehensive academic and elective opportunities to rebrand Silver Trail Middle School as each student’s “Pathway to a Bright Future.” This added vision statement will bolster our existing “One Family. One Team. One Goal.” foundation.
In closing, we are grateful for the opportunity you have provided us to continue to provide a safe, secure, and nurturing learning environment to challenge your child’s intellect and talents. The entire Silver Trail Middle School staff invite you to join us in making this another exciting and successful school year!
Sincerely,
Leo Nesmith, Ph.D.
