Art Action with Mr. Daniel
The Y.E.S. Art Dept. is gearing up for an exciting December! Richland and Yarbrough will be showcasing the artwork of our talented young artists during the month of December at the Auburn Public Library.
Our third grade art students are developing "Balanced Geometric/Free-Form Compositions" using a variety of media (graphite, crayons, markers, etc.) We will discuss abstract art, in addition to studying the works of Pablo Picasso.
Our fourth grade artists are using their creative ability and linear perspective to "Design Their Own Malls." We will also study the works of M.C. Escher.
Our fifth grade artists are utilizing rendering techniques, perspective, and their imagination to "Design Their Own Logos" for their soft drink companies. These designs will be incorporated into realistic drawings of their soda cans. We will also study the works of Andy Warhol.
Counseling Connection with Mrs. Walsh
In December we will focus on friendships. We will learn the importance of friendships, how to make friends, and the valued qualities most desired in good friendships. Please continue to discuss with your children how important it is to have the right friends. The right friends will build your students up and always lend a helping hand. Good friends build up self-esteem and help students grow to reach their full potential. Friendships not only give support but also can bring joy into a student’s life. Ask your students about their friends, and be as involved in their lives as you can.
Research shows that people with more and better social relationships are healthier and live longer lives. Having friends is also associated with a lower risk of physiological problems (Lydia Denworth, 2017).
Quote of the Month:
"Each friend represents a world in us, a world possibly not born until they arrive, and it is only by this meeting that a new world is born." (Anais Nin)
