The Groves Grapevine
Building the future, one student at a time! 7/26/21
Welcome to the 2021-22 school year!
Throughout the school year our newsletters will be sent through Skyward and posted on Facebook every other week to keep our Groves community informed of all things Gator-related. We will also send home a green monthly calendar for your fridge to remind you of events you and your family can be involved with. Stay connected with us through the Groves Facebook page and by checking your Skyward emails regularly. You can find us at R.V. Groves Elementary, WISD or @GrovesElem on Facebook.
Our Groves PTA is also a fantastic way to stay informed with the campus. Join with your membership and get involved today!
Summer office hours continue this week. We are operating while under construction from the 2nd grade hallway during the hours of 7:30-5:00 Monday-Thursday. The office is closed on Friday, July 30th. Regular school hours of 7:30-3:30 Monday-Friday will begin August 2nd.

Special HELLO to all our new Kinder-Gator families!
Kindergarten Adventure
*Dual students do not participate in Kindergarten Adventure
The 2021-2022 First Week of Kindergarten
To best meet the needs of all students, your child will not be assigned to a specific teacher for the first three days of school. Instead, they will rotate through all of the Kindergarten classrooms (three per day) and enjoy the teaching styles of each unique Kindergarten teacher.
On Monday, August 16th, information will be sent home stating who your child’s teacher will be for the year. During KinderAdventure, they will participate in crafts, games, singing, fine-motor activities, and educational lessons. These activities promote cooperation, problem-solving, and a sense of community. In addition to participating in rotations, your child will be assessed on basic number and letter concepts during the first three days of school. Using the information collected, our campus administration will facilitate the Kindergarten Team in creating classroom groups which balance the academic and social strengths and needs of our newest students for the 2021-2022 school year.

Arrival and Dismissal Info
Due to construction, the first days of school we will have all AM and PM carpool through the rear entrance of the building at the cafeteria doors. We will also have our buses and daycare transportation in the back. Please be patient as these adjustments are necessary until the front entrance is complete.
Bike riders and walkers - all students will exit the front, 4th, and 2nd grade doors. Kindergartners must have an older sibling or parent meet them to be released to walk home. Parents must have a yellow card sign* to pick up their child. Southfork bikers and walkers will be released at the gate in the rear of the building.
- Parent pick up - If you choose to pick up your child at the building, you must show your yellow card sign* for your child to be released. Without the yellow card sign you will need to show your driver's license ID to the front office. Students at campus will be monitored by staff in grade level lines until release.
- Carpool pick up - Place your yellow card sign* in the window on the passenger side so we can call your student to the car. Without hte yellow card sign you will need to show your driver's license ID to the front office. We load 6 students at a time before moving all cars forward. Each student is provided a specific colored cone to meet you at your car's location.
