Covid-19 Symptom Checkers (in English, Spanish, and Burmese) are attached to this issue of the Hornet Blast. Families should continue to monitor their family's health symptoms daily.

If you have any questions, contact Brandee Beikman, RN, MSN, our nurse coordinator: bbeikman@bgcs.k12.in.us or call her: 317-786-1447.

As a reminder, masks are REQUIRED for all students, staff, and parents/guardians picking up their child from the school office.

JROTC Program at BGHS

A few comments from our parents and students regarding our excellent JROTC program:

"My kids absolutely LOVE being a part of JROTC. It has done so much for them. MSG Boone is amazing with all of the kids!"

"Definitely one of the best programs BGCS has to offer. I wouldn’t be where I am today or doing what I’m doing in college without this program, LTC Edens, or MSG Boone. They are also two of the best teachers at the high school. They truly care about the students."

"I absolutely love JROTC. It is what I look forward to when I go to school! When I have a bad day or need someone to talk to, I can always look for them. I can honestly say this is one of the best programs at our school!!!!!"

"My daughter was so against it at first till my sis talked her into trying it out. Now she loves it."

A Sweet Summer!

Thank you to our Students, Families, Teachers, and Dairy Queen!

This summer, 266 kindergarten through sixth grade students, 40 teachers, and three counselors participated in summer school to improve reading and math skills. Although the average attendance was 82%, we had 61 students with a 98%-100% attendance rate! Their effort and dedication deserves a big SWEET Thank You and Good Job!! Thank you also to the families that made sure their students attended every day. You are building a strong foundation of work ethic and grit for your children. Our local Dairy Queen on Thompson Road donated a case of Dilly Bars to reward our students' outstanding attendance. We appreciate ALL of you!

Thanks, Tiffany!

As noted in last week's Hornet Blast, Tiffany Bolton, one of our school bus drivers, was named our "Hornet Hero" for the week for making masks for our students, staff, and community at no charge.

The Beech Grove Education Foundation was so impressed with her selfless dedication to keeping our schools and community safe, they made a donation of $250 for mask materials.

We're Hornet Proud, Tiffany!

Send Us Your Hornet Highlights!

We know there are many, many positive stories about Beech Grove City Schools involving our students, teachers, staff, and programs that we don't always hear. If you have a positive story to share, please send the details to Melody Stevens, Community Relations/Communications Director, at mstevens@bgcs.k12.in.us. We also encourage you to send stories that include personal achievements of your child such as: attaining the rank of Eagle Scout, performing in a community play, earning Girl Scout badges, serving as a volunteer in a non-profit organization, etc., etc. You might just see your story in a future edition of the "Hornet Blast" or in one of our local south side newspapers. We want to celebrate our Hornets!
