The 21st Century Library...a flexible learning space

Door Decor Contest

With Friendship Parties fast approaching, we’re having a contest to help show the LOVE. It’s a classroom door ecorating contest with the theme of The Books We Love. Faculty and students can have fun designing and decorating their doors based on a favorite book. We will have 3 winners (one per hallway) and each winner will receive an extra 30 minute library time. Be creative, have fun and encourage a love of reading. Please email me your book choice so we all have different doors. Thanks! I am so excited to see what you come up with. Don’t hesitate to ask for help. This is completely optional, I know you are saying this is just ONE more thing, but I would love to see as many people participate as possible. Ideally the doors would be completed by Wednesday, February 10th in time for our friendship parties on the 11th.

Learning in the Library

We are focusing on Digital Citizenship this month in the library. We are learning what is the difference between personal and private information, what sites are just right for us, who is safe to communicate with online, cyberbulling, and much more. Commonsensemedia.org has amazing lessons, videos, and parent letters. Feel free to check it out.

Makerspace is here!!

The library Makerspace is now up and running! The students will be get to participate in Makerspace once a month. During the Makerspace week students will not be checking out books during library time. They may come during the morning before announcements or during ac lab to check out books.

Carman Morning News

Thanks to everyone for tuning in each morning. If you would like to make an announcement, send me an email a day or more in advance and I would be more than happy to add it in the announcements. I am open to suggestions to make the announcements more fun. Let me know if you have any good ideas. We are working hard to make sure the announcers speak loudly so please let me know if you are having a hard time hearing the CMN.
