Tuesday March 21, 2017, 8am -3 pm - Business Skills Workshop

  • Understand the roles of allied business professionals
  • Discover pros and cons of an in-house vs out-source billing
  • Discuss several successful staffing/student structures
  • Define and discuss budgeting, software and equipment purchases and successful strategic planning
  • Create successful marketing strategies, advertising options, and discuss public relations in your area
  • Develop knowledge of legal responsibility of business ownership, including: city, county, state, and federal laws, the required inspections, and needed business and professional licenses
  • Brainstorm your ideal practice model and structure and draft your business action plan

Wednesday March 22, 2017, 8am - 5 pm - Clinical Skills Workshop

  • Advanced fetal monitoring, out-of-hospital NST and fluid assessment
  • Shoulder dystocia prevention and management with hands on mannequin practice and role play
  • Internal fetal head positioning and re-positioning & cervical lip diagnosis & treatment
  • Non-pharmaceutical cervical ripening & labor induction including herbs, oils, homeopathics, natural prostaglandins & oxytocin release, and bulb foley placement

Thursday March 23, 2017 8am - 5 pm - Clinical Skills Workshop

  • Phlebotomy, IM, Sub-Q, ID, and IV practice
  • Hemorrhage -estimated blood loss lab, urinary catheter placement, and treating shock
  • Preventing tears, performing episiotomy, and repairing lacerations including labial, clitoral hood & 3rd degree extensions

Augustine Colebrook, CPM

Augustine is a trusted, skilled, midwife with 18 years experience attending births in hospitals, birth centers, and homes in rural, urban and suburban environments in the US and abroad. She now utilizes that breadth of experience to midwife transitions in all phases of life for women and especially midwives. She paves the way for personal transformation with the women she works with, allowing the expansive development of self-confidence, empowerment, and intuition.

Augustine is ​an accomplished management executive with a strong social-entrepreneurial heart and experience in non-profit and business management. She now teaches and consults around the country for birth centers, and with midwives opening or expanding their practices. She is also writing a book for parents and editing a film project, called, 'What Labor Looks [and sounds] Like'.
