Dec 9- Elementary Tour (Wind Ensemble Only)

Dear Wind Ensemble Families,


We will be taking our annual tour of the Elementary Schools tomorrow.


Students need to bring $10 for lunch or a sack lunch.

Students need to bring their personal music stand from home.

Wear Band T-shirt or Christmas sweater.


Itinerary:

7am Arrive at Parkwood Hill Cafeteria; Perc at HMS

8:05 Parkwood Hill

9:15 Friendship

Lunch- Chick-fil-A

1:15 Freedom

2:30 Whitley Rd

3:30 Arrive back at Hillwood


We could use a couple parents to help chaperone. Please let me know if you are interested.

Parents are welcome to meet us at one of the schools to watch the performance. Just check into the front office:)

December 12- Epic Waters Festival Field Trip!

Uniform:

Band T-shirt and Jeans

-Wear swim suit underneath


Requirements to Attend:


Students must be eligible according to UIL guidelines AND currently passing class to attend. If you are not sure if you are eligible, please ask a band director.


Students must also have paid the $100 band fee to attend.


Parents and Students must sign and return the Liability Waiver. See attachment below.


Cost:


Student Entry Fee, water park ticket Fee, and Lunch is included in your Band Fee. Students will not need to bring additional funds for the trip.


Parent Chaperones- $23 (discounted ticket and lunch); Money due by Nov 20


What is Epic Waters Festival?

A music festival hosted at Epic Waters, in Grand Praire. Bands will perform for each other and a judge to get critiqued, then go swim in the indoor water park.

8:00am Attendance, Load Buses

8:30 Depart

9:30 Performances at Epic Waters

Lunch at Epic Waters

2:00 Load Buses

2:45pm Arrival at Hillwood MS

Dec 17- Winter Concert

7th and 8th Grade Students wear Tux Uniform:

- Parents must provide black dress shoes (black tennis shoes not acceptable)

- Long Black Socks

-Tux Shirt

-Bow Tie (given to child before each performance, then taken after the performance)

-Black Tux Pants


Please make sure you have all uniform pieces this week!

Please let a director know this week (Dec 9) if you need any assistance with your uniform.


Location: Northwood Church

Itinerary:

6:00pm 6th Grade Students on Stage with Instruments, cases leave in car

6:00pm 7th/8th Grade Students Report by Band Class in the Lobby, leave cases in car

6:00pm Parents sit in Auditorium quietly to respect the 6th grade students getting set up and organized.

6:25pm 7th and 8th Grade students sit in Auditorium by Band

6:30pm Performance begins

7:30pm Estimated End of Performance


Performance Etiquette:

Students will be graded on their professionalism and performance etiquette.

Students and Parents are expected to:

-Not be on phones during performance

-Be quiet and respectful during performance

-Enter auditorium only between pieces and not when a band is performing

-Take children out of performance hall if they are crying or being disruptive

  • Korg Tuner/Met with Pick Up Microphone

  • Wire Music Stand (for at home practice and some performances)

  • Lyre and Flip Folder

  • BERP (Brass Only)

Before School Procedure

Door open 6:50-7am. Closed between 7:00am-8:00am.

Directors and students are in sectionals and the Front office NOT be opening the door for Band Students.

Lost and Found!

At the last Friday of every Month, any unclaimed Lost and Found Items will be donated to Good Will. Bell's Rental Instruments that are in lost and found will be returned to Bell's.


Personal Items and Instruments should be labeled with your child's Name.
