Feb 1- Hillwood Bands to Central High School

Bands will go to the High School and play side by side with the high school students.


Itinerary:

7:45am HMS Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band Students Meet at Central High School

No Bus to CHS- Parents take students to CHS

Wind Ensemble- Auditorium

Symphonic- Band Hall

8:00-10am Rehearsal for Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band Begins at CHS

After rehearsal the Wind Ensemble and Symphonic bands will be bused back to Hillwood MS

9:30am HMS Concert Band takes attendance in Band Hall

9:40am HMS Concert Band departs on Bus from HMS to CHS

10am- 10:40am HMS Concert Band Rehearsal

10:50am HMS Concert Band Returns to Hillwood MS

Feb 6- Count Basie Concert at UNT

Jazz Band Field Trip

Feb 7- Annual Percussion Concert

Non Percussionist- Invited to Attend

Percussion- Required Event; See


The 2nd Annual Hillwood Middle School Percussion Concert will take place on Thursday, February 7th 2018 at 7:00pm. We are excited for this format that will showcase all the talented middle school students front and center! This is an annual required event for all percussionists that will showcase the entire percussion program at Parkwood Hill and Hillwood. Please plan on attending and invite others to attend as well!


We will also have a dress rehearsal on Wednesday, February 6th at CHS to prepare for the concert.

All students are required to attend the dress rehearsal but are not required to wear their concert attire. We will rehearse from 5:00pm to 7:00pm.


Dress Rehearsal:

February 6th - 5:00-7:00pm @ CHS


Concert:

February 7th - 7:00pm in the Keller Central HS Auditorium


Concert attire:

6th grade: Parkwood Hill Band shirt and jeans

7th, 8th: Black long-sleeve dress shirt, black dress pants, black socks, black shoes. No ties, vests or other accessories to draw attention to self.


What to Bring:

Sticks, mallets, music. Beginners will also need to bring their practice pad and stand.

Feb 23- Ensemble Concert and Contest

Saturday, February 23

Location: Hillwood Middle School

8am-Noon

Required Event for all Hillwood Band Students


Must pass the 4th six weeks to be eligible for participation.


Students have received music and are working on music in class and in sectionals.

Students will need to dress in Concert Tux uniform.


Parents invited to attend.


The top ensemble from each room will be invited to perform at the Keller ISD Chamber Festival Finals Performance on February 28.

Band Materials

Students will receive a materials grade for the 4th six weeks. Directors will be checking student materials including: instrument/percussion supplies, black band binder, tuner and microphone, pencil, Foundations for Superior Performance book.

Private Lesson Sign Up

Please sign up for private lessons, if you have not done so already. While private lessons are not required, we highly encourage every student to take advantage of this opportunity. Students will get a one on one weekly lesson with a professional on their instrument. We also have scholarship applications available if needed on our website to help with financing private lessons.
