Friday, October 18- HMS Band Night @CHS Football Game

Required attendance for all band members. Summative Grade for performance.

Ineligible students, students who received a 70 or below on report card, are not allowed to attend.

What to Wear:

  • Wear Band Tshirt, Jeans, Tennis Shoes

What to Bring:

  • 8th Grade Bring Sack Lunch
  • Light Jacket for Football Game


11am 8th Grade Students Report to Band Hall

11:15am 8th Grade Load Bus to CHS

12:30 7th Students Report to Band Hall

12:35 7th Grade depart on bus to CHS

3:00- CHS Pep Rally

4:00- Pizza

5:15- Load Buses for Keller ISD Athletic Complex

7:30ish- Parents Pick up Students from Stands after half time-NO Return Bus--

7:30-8:15pm Pick up Back Packs from HMS, if you want them before Monday


Pick one of the following Options:

  1. Don't bring a Backpack to school

  2. After the event, pick up the backpack from the school

  3. Leave the Backpack at the School over the weekend

Tubas/ Percussion

The instrument that you take to the event, parents take home.

Saturday, October 19- District Auditions

Wind Ensemble Band Members Only

7am-1pm District Auditions at Hillwood MS

Audition Info:

Auditions will include about 10 students per room for a blind audition. Please plan on spending the entire morning at HMS. Students will find out their Group and Start time a few days prior to the audition. Each Group will take about an hour or two for the audition, each child stays in the audition until every person is complete from their group. Cell phones must be on silent or not in the room.

Audition Music cuts are posted on the Band Website, under Wind Ensemble. Scales will be announced a day or two prior.

Audition Results will be email in the afternoon or evening after the audition. Students should leave after their audition and check email for results.

Lost and Found!

At the last Friday of every Month, any unclaimed Lost and Found Items will be donated to Good Will. Bell's Rental Instruments that are in lost and found will be returned to Bell's.

Personal Items and Instruments should be labeled with your child's Name.

Before School Procedure

Door open 6:50-7am. Closed between 7:00am-8:00am.

Directors and students are in sectionals and the Front office NOT be opening the door for Band Students.

Now until October 15- Collecting Donation for Fan Pledge!

Thank you for all students and parents that are supporting the fundraiser.

Funds support every Band Student!

Funds raised will go to Bus Transportation for events, Performance venue for Winter and Spring Concert at Northwood Church, Private Lesson Scholarships, Masterclasses and Clinicians, Recording Fees for Competition Submissions and any additional funds will go to Equipment.

Students will need to make sure they have completed their "Potential Supporters List" with at least 20 unique names, emails, and phone numbers by following the instructions on the attached "HMS Band Fundraiser 2019" handout.

Students that raise at least $150 will be invited to our band incentive trip to Six Flags!

Directors are still in the process of planning this trip. We will post more info soon.

October 15-25 Band Selling Chocolate!

Band Students will be able to sell Chocolate to help raise funds.

Optional fundraiser that will help boost our funds.

Saturday, October 26- Band Trip to UNT

Optional, Limited space available

Band Members sign up to participate in Band that plays at Engineering Competition to support our Hillwood Engineering club.


8:15am Meet at HMS

8:20am Depart HMS to UNT on School Buses

9am-Noon Perform at UNT

12:05 Depart UNT and Return to HMS

12:30pm Arrive Back to HMS

Halloween Concert!

Symphonic Band- Oct 30, 8:30-10am

Wind Ensemble- Oct 31, 8:30-10am

Concert Band- Oct 31, 10:45-Noon

Students will be performing a brief concert for their peers in other classes.

Band Students will be able to wear a halloween costume for band class performance. No costumes will be allowed after band class.

Parents are welcome to attend.

  • Korg Tuner/Met with Pick Up Microphone

  • Wire Music Stand (for at home practice and some performances)

  • Lyre and Flip Folder

  • BERP (Brass Only)
