News from Ms. Moltisanti
As we begin 2022, we should all spend some time with Habit 2: Begin With the End in Mind. Goal setting and having a plan are the keys to success. As we teach 7 Habits to our students, we hope that they are sharing these values with you at home as well.
As COVID cases have risen in the community during the Winter Break, I want to remind you that students showing symptoms should be kept at home and tested. If your child tests positive, they must isolate for 10 full days. Please continue to inform us at school of your COVID-positive cases.
I want to welcome the following faculty and staff members to our Mintz family:
Raven Fisk - Music
Geraldine January - Exceptional Student Education
Sindy Lopez - PreK Para
Tyrell Anderson - Registration Clerk
Keeping Children First,
Debbie Moltisanti
Congrats New Greeter Leaders!
Media Center News from Mrs. Howell
SLAM Program
We will be kicking off our annual Student Literacy and Media Showcase(SLAM) reading program in January. This will be open to 1st - 5th grade. Students will have the opportunity to compete in this countywide program by creating a 2D art project or a digital book trailer, in response to any of the SSYRA(Sunshine State Young Reader Award) books or one of the SSYRA Jr books. Encourage your child to read a SLAM book! The county level celebration is happening on March 30th and will showcase the best examples of student responses. More information to come.
Media Student Employees
The Mintz Media Center currently has over 60 student employees. Students are filling out job applications, completing job training, and working to earn tickets that can be used in the classroom and/or for schoolwide rewards. If your child is interested, please tell them to pick up an application from the media center.
Makerspace
Makerspace is having a grand reopening in the Mintz Media Center. Our Makerspace will focus on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) activities, promoting problem solving skills necessary to succeed in these areas. Teachers will have passes that will allow students to interact with these hands-on, skill-building games and toys.
