Books for All
A Free Book Fair for Students in Need
What is it about?
Research shows that simply giving books to children can actually help close the achievement gap and slow summer regression! We are collecting new or gently used books for K-5 students at Division Street School. The books will be distributed to students through a Free Book Fair during the school day in the middle of June. Faculty and staff will invite the students they feel would benefit most to attend the Free Book Fair event.
How can I help?
- Talk to your students about donating new or gently used books. Encourage them to donate a favorite book to help make sure our free collection is high-interest :-)
- Encourage parents to go to the BOGO sale family night and donate their free book.
- DONATE a book by Friday, May 20th and get a Dress Down Day on 5/20.
- If you would like to be a part of a committee to work on increasing book ownership for low SES as well as ELL students- please let me know! (We expect the Fair to be much bigger and have many different sources of donations next year)
