Note from the Office
Please remember to report any absences from both in-person and virtual learning to the office.
When reporting an absence, we will ask you for your child’s name, their teacher’s name and a brief reason for their absence. The direct line for our attendance is 317-915-4248. Even if you email the teacher, you MUST report the absence to the office! Thank you!
Important Information about Dismissal
CAR RIDERS:
If your child is going to be a car rider, please continue to use a sign with your child’s name and grade level in the windshield. It is also important that you stay behind the car in front of you and not pull out around cars to get to a cone or exit from a cone. We also ask that if your child needs assistance buckling their seatbelt, please pull into a parking space and then assist them. It is important that adults not exit their car or reach into the backseat while in the car line.
If you arrive after the car line has completed and there are no longer any staff members outside to greet your child, please walk your child into the office to sign them in.
BUS RIDERS:
During the pandemic, the practice of allowing students to ride buses not normally assigned to them will be suspended due to capacity and contact tracing concerns. Any exception to this directive would need to be approved by the transportation office.
Cafe News

The meal pick-up order form will be sent each week on Tuesday for pick up the following week and due Thursdays by 4pm. Meals will be picked up at either HSE High School or Fishers High School.
If you have any questions, please reach out to Food Services at 317-594-4100.
Report Card Guidance for Families
Our quarter ends on Friday 10/9. Report cards will be available on Thursday 10/15. You can view your student’s report card by logging into Skyward Family Access, opening the portfolio section, and opening your PDF. This year is a bit different for us as we navigate Quarter 1 assessments.
- Quarter 1 represents skills or concepts that are introduced or marked at the introductory level. These concepts will be further developed over the course of the year.
- Any area indicators left blank have not yet been assessed. These will be assessed in quarters 2, 3 and 4.
- The Learner Characteristics section of the report card represents personal work habits or social skills. We have not yet assessed most of these as students have been learning virtually for a portion of our first quarter.
- Science and social studies indicators are not marked for the first semester as our focus towards assessment from spring into this winter will be on reading, writing and math. Science and social studies concepts are certainly integrated into our core subject areas. However, the assessment of science and social studies will be noted in our second semester.
- Our related arts classes will be using a participation grading scale. This will be marked at the semester.
Second Step Social Emotional Learning Program
This week your child/ren began the Social Emotional Learning curriculum through Second Steps. Every week you will receive a grade specific Home Link that reviews the skill that was learned that week. If you would like additional information make sure to join www.secondstep.org with the activation key that is provided next to your child’s Home Link to watch videos about the Second Step program and get information about what your student is learning.
If you have any questions about the Second Step program, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s teacher for more information. Thank you for supporting your child in learning the skills that lead to success in school and in life. Please use the Home Link that corresponds to your child’s grade level to see what he/she learned this week!

A Message from the Music Teacher About Our Veterans Day Program
Every year at Hoosier Road we have an annual Veterans Day program to honor our Veterans. This year because of the pandemic we will not be able to have an in-person program.
Our program this year will be a virtual concert with our K-4th graders singing to our Veterans. To have our Veterans still feel appreciated on this day we would like to create a virtual picture album that will feature your Veterans.
Please send in a digital picture of your Veteran before October 30th. In your email, please include student’s name, Veteran's name, relationship to student, and branch of service.
Send this information to Joe Wheeler our IT specialist who will collect and put together our virtual picture album. Please send any questions to Renee Ross about this project.
