Curriculum News:
Oral Language. Let’s Find Out/Mi Weekly Reader! Vivo o sin vida? Los seres vivos necesitan aire, comida y agua. Crecen y cambian. Las cosas sin vida no necesitan aire, comida ni agua. No crecen./ What is a living thing? What do living things need to live and grow?
Math: We will be graphing the results of our sink and float experiment. We will also discuss the reasons behind why some objects floated and others sunk. Children will tally the results on their graph and count to find out the number for each set of objects used in the experiment.
Science: This week children will observe the growth of a seed. In baggies, we placed a lima bean covered with a cotton ball and watered it. We will continue to keep the cotton ball moist and observe the sprouting of a new plant.
Religion: Doubting Thomas, this story is very important with the teaching of what faith means. When Jesus appeared to Jesus days after His Resurrection, Thomas needed to feel Jesus’ wounds before believing it was really Him. Jesus exclaimed, “Blessed are those who believe without seeing.” Children viewed a video about the story and completed a coloring sheet about the story. Another lesson will be to remind children that Jesus is the King of heaven and earth.
Estrellita Phonics: Review all letter sounds to begin the lesson. The letters C,c is our focus for this week again due to the different letter sounds it makes when paired with different vowels (cepillo, cima). Children will learn new words that begin with these consonant sounds. Children will be tracing and writing the letter forms and learning songs related to the letter sounds.
Have a wonderful week,
Blessings,
Sra. Raquel L., Sra. Farías and Sra. Laura P.
