Bulldog Bulletin- Weekly eNews
Here is what's on top at Buena Vista! 9/29/21
Note from the Principal
Good Afternoon Parents,
I hope you are all well. I had the opportunity to invite Superintendent Marie Morgan to our school last Thursday to see all of the wonderful learning that is going on here at Buena Vista. I have been so impressed with the work that both the staff and students have been doing at BV that I was excited for her to see it! We were able to walk through many classrooms and saw students engaged in their learning. We observed high level Reader's and Writer's Workshops, math and math games, students learning our new NGSS Science curriculum and experiments and students actively collaborating with each other, and giving peer feedback to each other. It truly is great to have students back in school.
Kindness Campaign
As excited as I am to be back at school, as we ease into week 8, I am noticing more and more actions and behaviors from students that do not support our school's mission statement; "Rigorous, high-level learning in a caring, safe and engaging environment."
I think we are doing well to address the rigorous and high-level learning after returning to in person learning, but we can definitely do more work with a focus on caring and kindness. As the school leader this work starts with me. I will be launching a BV Kindness Campaign kickoff for the month of October. During this month we are going to celebrate students and staff who are being kind and caring to one another. We will also be moving forward with opening our Wellness Center later next month. Please look for more information to follow.

We have also started our PTA Membership Drive!
Do you want to know what is happening first at Buena Vista? Do you want to be involved in your student’s school activities? Do you want to help build a school community at Buena Vista?
If so you should join our Buena Vista PTA!
We are hoping to get as many families involved this year as possible to join our PTA. To support this, Mrs. Gramlick and the PTA are hosting a Membership Drive. Our goal, over the next two weeks, is to get at least 60% membership from every classroom. (We are trying for a 10% increase from last year.)
Classes who reach this goal by Friday, October 8th with get an invitation to bring their lunch to eat with Mrs. Gramlick in the private grove along with a popsicle treat.
Explore the Arts and Express Yourself!
Do you enjoy art, music, and dance, or have an interest in writing, producing films, and taking photos? Then join us and have fun unleashing your inner artist with PTA Reflections! This year's theme, "I Will Change the World By...," calls for your own unique interpretation through the arts. Submit your online entry form here. Remember to also include a picture of your entry, or attach the video of your music, dance, or film. Entries are due by October 22nd.
For inspiration and to learn more, please visit the Reflections virtual art gallery at https://www.pta.org/home/programs/reflections/awards. Or check out this PTA Reflections video that is great to show to students or your artist at home. Partner Spotlight: Antonia Quanstrom
WCEF Gold Partner and Walnut Creek native, Antonia Quanstrom loves to support our public schools and continues her commitment each school year to WCEF, shining a light on our great community.
Fun facts about Antonia: She grew up in a “real estate” family—Antonia’s mother was a Walnut Creek realtor for 25+ years and her father was a developer who built homes in Walnut Creek. Antonia lives in her childhood home in Walnut Creek that her father built.
Antonia sees her mission as making her clients’ journey as profitable and smooth (yes, even enjoyable!) as possible. You can reach Antonia to discuss your home buying or selling needs at (925) 407-6299 or antonia.quanstrom@compass.com.
