dads in schools

Greetings Parents and Guardians,

KO Knudson is excited to partner with Dads in Schools, a program that invests in students’ social-emotional well-being and academic progress through community investment, resulting in increased school safety, student self-confidence, and student belonging. The program unites the community by bringing volunteers to the school to help create a positive and safe environment in which students can thrive both academically and socially. In order for our students to be successful, we need compassionate, caring adult role models from our community to volunteer. Our goal is “prevention through presence.” Dads in Schools volunteers receive training in promoting consistent daily attendance, restorative justice best practices, anonymous SafeVoice reporting procedures, and removing barriers to success. All of the volunteers must pass a background check to be a part of Dads in Schools.

Dads in Schools informational meeting: KO Knudson's Library on May 11, 2022 at 5:30pm. If you’re not able to make the meeting but would still like to be considered for the program, please complete this volunteer survey. We’re excited to grow this community-school partnership together!

Don't miss out on our 2021-2022 KO Yearbook! Only a few left!

Immunization for Incoming 7th Graders

Nevada State Law requires that a student receive the MCV4 (Meningococcal) vaccination and the Tdap vaccination prior to entering 7th grade.

If your child has not received the required MCV4 and/or Tdap immunization(s), take the form and any existing immunization records to your health care provider or the Southern Nevada Health District to obtain the required vaccine(s). The Southern Nevada Health District’s clinic sites can be found at https://www.southernnevadahealthdistrict.org/

Provide a copy of the updated immunization record to the front office prior to the first day of school. It is recommended to complete this as soon as possible to avoid any issue for your child the first day of school.

If your child is exempt from any immunization(s), please provide the necessary documentation.

Should you have any questions or require additional information, please call the school at 702-799-7470.

Lost and Found Items

Parents: Please speak to your child about looking in the lost and found bins located in the KO Cafeteria for their lost personal belongings. We will donate all items at the end of the school year that are not claimed.

Thank you.

STUDENT DELIVERIES

Parents please know we do our best to get personal items to students throughout the day. Please understand, there may be times where it is not possible to deliver items, and it is greatly appreciated to utilize this option only for emergencies. This especially applies to food deliveries as every student is provided a free breakfast and lunch at school. Delivering food and/or passes to class cause unnecessary disruptions.

Thank you!

Dress Code Reminder

We are noticing an increase of students NOT wearing SSA dress code clothing. Every student must wear SSA clothing to school each day. The only outerwear clothing allowed is jackets or hoodies. Students should NOT wear t-shirts or any other clothing over SSA collared shirts.

As temperatures are getting warmer, please do not wear hoodies to school.

REMINDER: All pants must be in school approved colors with no designs and should have NO rips or tears above the knee.

Hoodies and IDs

Parents,

Now that it is warm, students do not need to wear hoodies, especially over their head. Please speak to your child about this. If they do have a hoodie on, the hood should never be pulled over their head while on campus. It is extremely important for students to have their school-issued ID on every day, all day so we can easily identify our KO students, for campus safety.

Thank you for your support!
