Students did a great job completing their college research projects. Next, we will move on to learning about the sixteen career clusters and starting to research career fields that interest us. Please remind your child to bring a charged computer with them to class everyday.

EXPL Careers Students 6th Grade

Students are working on their Futures 2000+ Grant Application. This application has been downloaded on to the student’s computers. Next week we will be continuing to work on the grant applications. Each student who completes a grant application will have their application submitted to the committee, and if their grant is accepted the student will have the opportunity to go to the designated location to learn as much as they can about the career. The application is due on Friday, December 13th. Students are encouraged to submit the grant on Schoology to have me proofread it and return it with any possible suggestions they can make.

Careers 7th & 8th Grade

Students are going to continue their final project for the semester. The project if the Unemployed Elf. All the necessary information and templates are available on Schoology. This project is intended for the students to do creative writing. The students have been working in class on this, and next week they will have class time to work on it as well. The project is due Friday, December 13th. Any part of the project they are not able to finish in class will need to be completed at home.

Design and modeling-

STEM-

Robotics-

We will be testing students over material from their core math classes. The material that will be on the test is: Finding slope from a graph, finding slope from two points, finding slope from a table, writing an inequality, graphing an inequality on a number line, solving for the y-intercept of a linear equation, finding constant of proportionality from a table, writing the corresponding equation after finding the constant of proportionality, graphing a linear equation, determining if a point is a solution to a linear equation, and solving an inequality before graphing an inequality on a number line. Also, we will start to learn about angles.

We will be testing students over adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing integers. Also, we will start to learn about converting fractions to decimals and vice versa.

We will continue to work on the skills necessary to add and subtract fractions. These skills include converting mixed numbers to improper fractions, converting improper fractions to mixed numbers, simplifying fractions, and continuing to practice finding LCD (least common denominator). Concepts will also be used in fraction division by finding the LCD and dividing.

The concert was a great success! We're in the cooling down period choosing music for our next concert and finishing some work for avid.
