Room Guidelines

Rob sent out the end of the year room guidelines earlier this week. I linked them here as a reminder (End of the Year and Rooms with New Flooring). Thank you for your cooperation with your rooms. It is very important, with the various stages of construction and room changes, that we get off to a smooth start by having the rooms packed up and organized.

Mike Schmoker's 2015 book "Focus" details the eseential components of an effective lesson (see Appendix A below).

Spotlight Meeting

This past Thursday Lisa Biemann, Kathy Koblesky, Chris Steinpries and myself attended the end of the year Spotlight Schools meeting. As a result of the new language in the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), the Spotlight Schools grant will no longer be funded. We had the opportunity to share our PBIS practices as well as learn from other Spotlight Schools. I have included a few resources shared by the other schools. I also included our video links below as a reminder of the great work you do here on a daily basis.

Academic Parent Teacher Teams- Shared by DPI and one of the Spotlight Schools. An alternative to individual parent teacher conferences.

DPI Excellence for All- eCourses on Focus areas identified by DPI

Nearpod- App for iPads. Nearpod has a variety of lessons already created. The app provides real-time checks for understanding (similar to KaHoot!). Shared by 3rd teacher from Converse Elementary.

Book Creator- iTunes app, $4.99. Students can create their own book and publish to iBooks. Shared by 3rd teacher from Converse Elementary.

Spotlight Schools List- Links to the Spotlight school webpages. A variety of resources are posted in their pages.
