Tax Season - How the library can and can't help
New York State tax forms are here and we have created a binder of common Federal forms that patrons may copy.
Please be aware that library staff and volunteers are NOT ALLOWED to give you any advice at all about which forms to take or how to fill them out. We are not tax advisers and can be held liable if any problems come up with your filing.
But do not despair, there is help available.
If your household income is $54,000 or less , call 1-800-211-5128 for a local appointment with a trained volunteer.
If your income is $62,000 or less, you may use www.myfreetaxes.com to e-file State and Federal Taxes.
These programs are sponsored by the Tri County United Way VITA Coalition
Get a New York Public Library Card!
Volunteer Patrice Abate let us in on this great deal. All New York State residents are eligible to get a New York Public Library card. This might not be too handy for borrowing physical titles but it also provides access to databases and their e book and e audio book collections. If you fill out the online form, they send you a card with a request to scan and send or fax proof of residency. An easy way to expand our digital horizons! Thanks Patrice.
