Parent Update
We are officially finished our first month of school. It was nice to see so many families at our Meet the Teams Night. Overall, it has been a good start to the year. The students have been working on learning the new routines of middle school, including changing classes, transitions, and of course learning their locker codes.
A reminder that teams send out emails to families quite frequently and if you are not receiving these, please reach out to your child's team leader so they can add you to their contact list. The emails include items such as homework, team activities, upcoming events, and other helpful information to be more aware of what is going on with your child here at school.
Many families still have not completed their InfoSnap registration. Please assist us in having all the proper information for your child by completing and submitting these forms. The InfoSnap email has been sent out multiple times. Please call the main office if you did not receive this email.
You should have received an email from Dr. Kaitlyn Hills, our district curriculum and instruction director. This email contains information for your JumpRope account. It is important to check your child's JumpRope account often. It is a good way to stay on top of grades and missing assignments. Teachers' gradebooks are updated regularly throughout the weeks so, there should be no surprises as JumpRope is a live document.
For our student-athletes, we have opened up our Winter-Sports registration. We offer the following winter sports here at KRMS: Alpine ski racing, Nordic skiing, basketball, cheerleading, and wrestling. Information for registration is below, or you can follow the steps from this website: www.kingswoodathletics.org.
Our first KRMS school dance will be held on Friday October 20th from 6:00-8:30 pm in our school gym. The cost is $5.00. Only students who have been in attendance the day of the dance are permitted to attend. Students may bring a guest only if the guest is a 7th or 8th grader and the KRMS students have obtained permission from the administration (forms available in the office) at least 24 hours before the day of the dance. Students are not allowed to leave a dance early unless previously arranged. Administration may prohibit attendance at dances or extracurricular activities due to misbehavior. Parents, please pick up promptly. Students are expected to follow the KRMS Dress Code. No outside food or drinks are allowed inside during a dance. Drinks and snacks can be purchased. There is transportation provided to and from the dance. There is a $2.00 for each way that must be paid when you arrive and leave the dance. The Ossipee bus stops at the Ossipee Town Hall at approximately 5:30 PM and at Court House Square in Ossipee at 5:40 PM. The New Durham bus leaves from the New Durham School at 5:30 PM.
I have had a few parents reach out with questions about dismissal procedures. Our office only needs to be notified of changes for dismissal if your child is planning to ride a different bus home (ex. going to a friends house). Please send a note to our main office and we will give your child a bus slip to ride the different bus. Please let us know if you have any additional questions.
Lastly, our annual KRMS fundraiser starts on 10/2, and we need your help. Materials were sent home with students today. Our goal is to raise $10,000.00 to support 7th & 8th grade team activities this year.
Sincerely,
Kerry Hunt
