Kimball Hill

Week of 3/6/23

Message from the Principal

Dear Kimball Hill Families,

Our students had such a fun week with our Fort Reading and Read Across America celebrations! What an amazing way to show our love for Reading! There were so many staff members and students that participated in dressing like their favorite book character! We loved seeing the creativity and excitement as students talked about their favorite book.

As a reminder, next week our IAR testing begins for students in grades 3-6. Please make sure your child gets good sleep and eats a healthy breakfast.

As always, we appreciate your partnership and continued support! Please feel free to contact me with questions, concerns and/or feedback.

Warmly,

Michelle LaCamera

We are excited to share that on March 10th the District will be participating in a community initiative called "High Five Fridays". We have invited our first responders and other community members to help greet students as they arrive at school in the morning. If you see emergency vehicles outside of our school on the morning of March 10th, please know they are there to greet our students! Our first responders and community partners have committed to participating at each of our schools from February 3 through the end of the school year! We look forward to welcoming our community to our school!

Coin Challenge

On March 7th-17th, our students will be participating in a school-wide classroom coin challenge. The funds raised will be used to purchase trinket items for our school store. See details below, hosted by our PTA.

Math Family Fun

A big thank you to our parent liasons and Multilingual department for such an interactive and fun Math training for our families.

Lunch With The Principal

I had my first lunch bunch join me today for Lunch with the Principal . These kiddos traded in their hard earned Paws at the school store to have lunch with me. We had such an amazing time getting to know each other more! I am so excited for the next lunch bunch to join me!

Acts of Service

Our Walk and Talk Club walked the talk for Acts of Service Month with helping hands to pick up litter on our walking route.

We have extended our deadline and will be accepting pop tabs for the Ronald McDonald house charities as part of our Acts of Service monthly theme until March 24th. If you are interested, please send your child to school with pop tabs.

Stem Materials Collection

As we look forward to a new year, we look forward to implementing STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) into our elementary library lessons. We are excited to bring these hands-on learning experiences to your schools. Throughout these activities, students will develop their social skills while also developing skills in problem solving, critical thinking, creativity, curiosity, decision making, leadership, and more.

We are needing some help collecting materials for some of the STEM tasks. Here are some of the things we could use. These items are donations and will not be returned. Students can place items in a STEM collection box that are located near the front office in each our the elementary schools until March 24th; however we will not turn away items after that date.

Used or Recycled Materials

  • Empty Cereal Boxes

  • Empty Paper Towel Rolls

  • Empty Toilet Paper Rolls

  • Empty Wrapping Paper Rolls

  • Empty Cardboard Egg Cartons

  • Puzzles (48-100 Pieces), **Please no wooden or missing pieces Please tape puzzle boxes closed.

Any additional questions, please contact the school Library Innovation Teacher.

Registration 2023-24 IMPORTANT FOR ALL STUDENTS

Online registration through Infinite Campus is OPEN. EVERY student; new and returning, must register each year. It is extremely important that all families register as soon as possible and do not wait until the summer. Our staffing needs are determined by the number of students registered each year. Waiting to register right before school begins can cause changes to classes, changes in staffing and the need to re-section classes in order to balance classes. We kindly ask you to register as soon as possible. Thank you for your support!

PTA News

If you are interested in joining the PTA, membership is $8 or if know anyone that would be a good fit for serving on the PTA board, elections will be in May. There are several positions opening.

Join us for our Dine and Donate at REPS March 20th from 11:30am-midnight.
