Writing and Medicine Combined
Two unlikley topics smashed together to make a career
Entering A Career Just For Me
No one got me into medicine or writing, it's just a part of who I am and it's been that way since I can remember. I have always loved the idea of medicine, I would pretend to help my stuffed animals when I was very small. As for writing, as soon as I learned to spell I was writing stories. What I really love about my interests is, is one is for me (writing) and one is for others (medicine). It keeps me balanced. I have been published into Erasers Edge, won a AVID student of the year award for being so determined about my passions and most importantly it gives me motivation and confidence.
J. R. R. Tolkien
I look up to this man with much admiration and respect. He came up with an idea and made an entirely new world that captivated millions and left them in awe. Though I love medicine, if I could find it in my to be as much of an amazing writer as J. R. R. Tolkien was, I would give it up in a second.
Some of the jobs include:
Sergeant
Got an undergraduate in English then became a paramedic. Combined all of his passions into one and became a sergeant.

Joined the US Navy to get a scholarship to pay for medical school. As a head of family medicine he is active in many administrative duties. Helps families of all kinds to be healthy and stay healthy.

1-None of the job options that came up are things I am remotely interested in, does that mean I should change my passions or disregard them since it seems that there isn't many professions that suit me?
2-I know that the medical field is more safe and promising than writing, but lately I've been feeling more connected with writing. Is that bad? If so how do I get back on track?
Next Steps:
1-Research more writing and medicine careers
2-Get in touch with someone who is in a medical writing career
3-Get in touch with UW and see if they have any classes or clubs that combine the two if not ask what classes would be beneficial to me
